Trump says he 'loves' inflation as gas prices rise

financeJun 11, 202610210,227

President Donald Trump told reporters, "No, I love it. The numbers were great," when asked about the latest inflation figures. His comment came as U.S. pump prices climbed amid recent oil-market volatility and supply worries. Oil industry executives warned the White House that gasoline costs could rise further. Rising inflation and higher gas prices directly hit household budgets and could shape voters' economic concerns going into elections.

“No one gives a sh*t about housing.” “If [gas prices] rise, they rise.” "I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation." "I love the inflation." Donald Trump really is a man of the people, isn't he?

He's a man suffering from clinical narcissism and sociopathy. Not a victim, but a perpetrator. And he got elected twice. Even though American voters had four years to think about it in between. America has a huge problem and Trump is not the cause, he's a symptom.

Miss Kitty 🌈🌈🌈7

That he deigns to speak to us at all is a magnanimous gesture. LOL.

EARNED MY SPURS: UNABLE TO CURB MY CUSSING 🐎5

Bear in mind, Republicans lost their minds when Joe Biden ate an ice cream cone or went to the beach to read.

BLewis3

He couldn't be more narcissistic if he tried!

Democracy-Rising3

To me, those statements say, The Dems take the Senate at the Mid-terms. Trump"s words are a Dem election asset at this point

CLE2

He is a man above the people. The oppressor.

The Terminator2

Trump takes his inhumanity to a new low. But no matter how low he sinks, his cult remains loyal. Like Epstein said "Trump hasn't got a decent cell in his body" www.dailynews.com/2026/06/11/t...

David2

Sadly, he is a man that too many of the people who support him wish they could be.

gcm5.bsky.social2

Remember Trump’s Knicks ticket prices comment: that’s life.

Kelvin | pobody's nerfect2

The campaign ad industry thanks you for your continued contributions.

Ariana Niko2

The amazing part is that some people still act shocked when voters get angry about prices. Most people live in the real world, not in press conferences.

shay2

he also rapes children, thats a bit more important but who gives a shit when the overton window has already shifted right

The Board — Geopolitical Analysis2

The Trump Iran Deal stalemate and resulting naval blockade could influence gas prices and Americans' financial situations mentioned in the thread. https://theboard.world/article/trump-iran-deal-stalemate-naval-blockade/

Yes, if by people you mean the ultra wealthy and tyrants.

trump went from “biden is to blame for inflation” to “i dont care about inflation” to “i love the inflation” in like a month lol

“Obama’s to blame for Iran.” “I don’t care about Iran.” “We’re going to bomb the shit out of Iran.”

E E Leavings8

What is the strategy name for circling all the answers on a multiple choice question so you can always claim you had the right answer later?

christina rn6

Did you see where he told a reporter “that’s the way life goes” when asked about Knicks tix being so expensive the average American could never go?

John W3

Biden made inflation drop from 9% to 3%. Biden is bad. Ergo, inflation is good. The more the better!

Persephone’s Timeshare3

"so if Biden caused the inflation, then why do you love it, Mr. President?"

Lizzie Blue3

I think we all knew things were going to get crazy once he could no longer blame Biden, but, true to form, he somehow manages to be even worse than expected.

phillip-wiles.bsky.social3

He said it in the interview with Hannity, "we" are making a lot money because of the higher oil prices

RIP America 🇨🇦3

What happened to "I'll fix it Day 1"?

Steven Toth3

This is his morality in a nutshell. No notes 10/10

Geoffrey Hoytsman2

We’re a week or two from him just straight admitting he’s intentionally manipulating gas prices

Robert Fessler2

Shoot an arrow in the air. Wherever it lands, call that the target.

"Ebola is actually good," Trump, in a few months

Burgum: "California was dependent on oil coming from the Strait of Hormuz. That was self-inflicted. They are gonna have high gas prices. You can thank Gavin Newsom for that."

scottyt5nyy.bsky.social175

Do they ever not lie?

Gerald Glenn Saenz 🇺🇦107

No one in California blew up Iranian children.

Deirdre69

Gavin Newsom started the war? I also thought Trump said America didn’t need oil from the Strait of Hormuz?

Holli Winters23

30% comes from the Middle East. Newsom should sign a peace treaty with Iran, right??? 😆

Middlerage21

yeah he started the war in Iran. no wait, that was Trump! 🤡

lmv77.bsky.social15

These same clowns hate that the state has always been ahead of the curve re: fuel economy standards, etc. They also mock things like high speed rail. Like, California is trying to not be so dependent on oil, yet they work tirelessly to prevent this from happening.

Dr Robin14

Burgum, no one is buying what you’re selling. Everyone knows -Trump started the war that is causing the shortages.

nkmmom.bsky.social13

Funny, California didn't have that problem before 47's illegal war.

CMHoskins10

Do they ever hear themselves? People can't be this stupid, can they? Sigh.

Mike Stivala8

I know I should be over this after 10 years of this bullshit… But nothing makes me angrier than watching Trump sycophants lie their asses off on TV, while in the box next to them some “journalist“ sits there doing nothing but nodding and smiling.

Greg Sanderson5

The price of oil is set by global markets 🤦‍♂️ Gov. Newsom didn't have a say. He would not have started this war. Blaming him is as dumb as blaming President Biden. Donald is responsible.

David5

Confused. How could that possibly Newsoms fault? cbwrong.blogspot.com/2026/06/ther...

Knight øf Cerebus5

I live in Alaska, which is run by a Republican governor, and this is the gas price.

Doug Profitt4

Pretty much a “shoot yourself in the foot” moment when Gavin Newsom declared war on Iran. I can understand it, though. He was distracted by making sure all of the forests in California were being raked properly.

William Foster4

Or they'll simply swap out their gas guzzlers for EVs. And sorry partner, but there other EV producers other Tesla in the US, and that might put a slash US Oil CEOs bottom line, you know, the ones that donate to him. Or maybe I'm just whistling Dixie.

The Board — Geopolitical Analysis4

The Hormuz Math article explains why disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz can cause oil price surges, directly linking to concerns about California's dependence on imported oil. https://theboard.world/article/the-hormuz-math-why-the-strait-cant-be-reopened-fast/

MrsBlocking 🇸🇪 🇫🇮 🇪🇺 🖇️📎💚💙 ❌👑 NO DM:s!! No 0-post accounts!4

All thanks go to Trump! He started the war, not Newson!

Stu Barron4

Self inflicted? Gavin Newsom went to war with Iran? I'm confused.

Mike Horan3

Only the fucking idiots that watch Fox would believe this.

Charlie Fillenwarth3

I thought we control the Strait of Hormuz and always have? I thought all traffic was moving through the Strait just fine?

vtvball.bsky.social3

These people are fucking insane

ImNotJoeKing3

Oil is a globally traded commodity, its price is determined by global supply and demand, regardless of what country or state. The only caveats are: how much tax a state puts on gasoline, a country that subsidizes gasoline, and geographic location causing higher transportation costs.

Gabe Burgess3

What continues to astound me is not the fact these feckless suckups peddle this obvious BS, it's the amount of people in this country that believe them.

Baltimore Canary3

This is the dumbest thing I've read on the internet today.

kingink13.bsky.social2

I thought everything was Joe Biden's fault

Just Kevin2

It is worth pointing out that the cost for gasoline in Texas after Republicans' latest Middle Eastern war increased by 30% YoY whereas in California which has decarbonized much of their transportation has only increased 24% YoY. For diesel it is 55% for TX & 40% for CA YoY.

Don_Shea2

Her response is, “Okay.” No wonder we’re in this position. Hard hitting journalism.

ravenalessia.bsky.social2

Sounds like Trump started an ilegal war against Iran that impacted California’s oil imports from the Strait of Hormuz to get back at Gavin Newsom for what? … not bending a knee to Trump? The most idiotic reason for starting a war that cost lives, billions and increased gas prices throughout the US

nancyginga.bsky.social2

So California, exclusive of other states, gets their oil shipped through the strait? And the Governor is responsible for where California gets its oil?

Susan Behrens2

How is it Gavin Newsom’s fault that the Strait of Hormuz is closed?

SeabeeGator462

Your response sir? @gavinnewsom.bsky.social @governor.ca.gov

Jeff W 🌮2

I did not realize that the governor of California launched a war against Iran and not the president. I stand corrected.

Joel Klebanoff 🇨🇦2

And, Mr. Burgum, who should other Americans thank for their high oil prices?

olympicdane.bsky.social2

It's scary that this guy has no idea how international commodities work. Pure incompetence.

The Bishop2

Oh, did I miss President Newsom declaring war on Iran

Hand of the King2

If oil comes from Texas, why isn't gas free in Texas?

Saoirse2

Burgum, once again use the Google machine before you speak. California oil consumption from the 'MIDDLE EAST' (not the Strait of Hormuz) is 30%, while GREEN Energy supplies 43% to 60% of energy used in California. Looks like California saw what was coming down the pipe and took action.

David, it might be worth an article to point out that the cost for gasoline in Texas after Republicans' latest Middle Eastern war increased by 30% YoY whereas in California which has decarbonized much of their transportation has only increased 24% YoY. For diesel it is 55% for TX & 40% for CA YoY.

Burghum is amongst the contenders for stupidest Cabinet member

youradaisyifudo.bsky.social6

Where the hell does this guy get his information? Straight out of trump’s ass I reckon

eddie0028.bsky.social5

Wait whut...I thought we were energy independent

Carl Pagan4

Makes it sound like Hormuz oil is Perrier.

kestell7881.bsky.social4

They don't even try to make sense! They know the media will just nod and go along with any irrational BS they spew!!

dsullivan238.bsky.social4

Wait, is Burgum saying that he thinks Gavin Newsom closed the Strait of Hormuz?

Dr. Penguin3

Oh look it's blame Gavin day. I was expecting him to blame Biden.

NotafanofFacism3

Just over a year ago I was really nervous about replacing my car with an EV (mostly due to range anxiety) but after months of research, I decided to lease one. I already had solar and put a charger in my garage. I charge my car after 12 am for less than $4 on average Zero regrets, Doug. Zero.

Cynthia Fraase2

It would be really funny if Trump's idiotic war was the tipping point for so many nations to move on clean energy sources.

kiskaz.bsky.social2

I think he’s one of the most pitiful, slavering sycophants in Trump’s orbit.

kaannnaa.bsky.social2

Especially since the actual reason for high prices in CA, specifically, is that our oil pipelines don't cross the Rockies

Here’s Mike Johnson’s attempt to clean up Trump’s “I love the inflation” mess: “What he was saying is: It’s going to be great to have that number and compare it to what comes next, when we get these situations resolved, that’ll be a fun thing to consider.” Johnson spreads bullshit poorly but often.
