Vance Boelter pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court to murder, stalking and firearms charges in the fatal shootings of former Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman. He also admitted responsibility for the related attack that wounded state Sen. John Hoffman, his wife Yvette Hoffman and their daughter, Hope. Federal prosecutors said they will not seek the death penalty in the case. The guilty plea resolves the federal phase of the political violence, sending the matter toward sentencing without a capital trial.
