U.S. forces disable tanker in Gulf of Oman; Indian sailors reported killed

newsJun 11, 202618682

U.S. forces fired on and disabled the tanker M/T Jalveer in the Gulf of Oman after CENTCOM said the vessel was carrying Iranian oil and failed to follow directions. India confirmed three sailors who went missing after the strike have died. The strike is the second U.S. intervention this week against vessels Washington calls noncompliant and comes amid reciprocal strikes between the United States and Iran. The deaths risk straining U.S.-India relations and could further escalate tensions and shipping risks in the strategically vital Gulf of Oman.
