Patrick Mahomes signs extension through 2033, deal worth $504.75M
HALF-A-BILLION DOLLARS 💵 The Kansas City Chiefs have extended Patrick Mahomes' contract by two years, leading him through the 2033 season at a value of $504.75M, making it the first NFL deal to reach half-billion dollars per Adam Schefter.
An absolutely indecent amount of money. All major sports are slowly going down the toilet. He's good but JC, the man plays a game.
If you don't see a problem here, don't you ever complain about $50 parking , $150 nose bleed seats, $15 for a beer or $10 for popcorn
While people go hungry and without healthcare. America's priorities are fucked.
To play a sport. Obscene.
Is this a flex?? because it is not! Not in this economy, not in this decade. Shame on teams that'll splurge the hell outta getting someone to play a sport but don't splurge when it comes to our veterans, ones with disabilities, homeless, programs for children within your state. GROSS🤢🤮
Nothing against Mahomes, but this is disgusting. Sports both professional and collegiate have lost the idea of sporting events being an activity a family can enjoy. I fondly remember sitting at a MLB game in the bleachers. I can't afford to even go any more.
I like Mahomes, but this is obscene. One game at that rate and I'd be set for life. I'm done with the NFL.
I love Patrick but he has been an average quarterback now for three full seasons
Just another reason to boycott NFL. They are all, players, teams, owners, and broadcasters are pricing themselves into oblivion. one of the richest people in the world is a football player.
How much money do people need? Ridiculous...a half a billion to throw a football. And meanwhile...cheapest tickets for Game 4, Knicks vs. Spurs at MSG, are around $3,300 to $4,000, while lower-bowl and court side seats range from $11,000 to over $100,000. This is clearly out of control.
Meanwhile teachers in school districts that need more teachers are getting laid off because no funding
Didn’t he suck last year?
Will he actually be around that long?
When your wife doubles down on her support for Trump after he publicly attacked her friend Taylor Swift, you might also be a Trumper despite your protestations to the contrary. Fuck his loser rapist brother too.
I’m sick of him. Yes, he’s a phenomenal talent— but like Tom Brady before him he’s a douche.
NO FOOTBALL PLAYER IS WORTH HALF A BILLION DOLLARS!
Love the pro athletes Hate teachers and healthcare workers We are doomed 🤮
I agree that it’s too much. But I don’t pay money to watch any of the games. How many folks here complaining about this kind of salary are willing to forgo their NFL streaming services or going to the games in person? Maybe even boycotting the products that advertise on TV during the games… 🤷♂️
His best years are behind him
🚨🚨🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨🚨🚨 The Chiefs and QB Patrick Mahomes have agreed to a new contract extension that will pay him $504.75M over the next 8 seasons. The deal adds 2 years to the 6 years remaining on his contract and pushes his average salary north of $60M per year. Per Adam Schefter.
What’s the average teacher salary?
This entire country has lost its mind.
ah, meaning the QB positing will now be taking up a huge chunk of the salary cap and the team around him will be weaker. Well, it was nice while it lasted.
Pay them well, sure, but it’s disgusting that so few get so much, and the rest of the population will work hard their entire lives and never make near as much. These enormous pay gaps are what landed 🇺🇸 in so much trouble in the first place.
I mean, I get it but as a fan it would be nice to feel like I can afford to watch at least one NFL game in person in my lifetime.
This is a perfect example of a Nation with the wrong priorities.
500M reasons to not watch pro football. How about a base salary with performance bonuses like many workers not making $50M+ a year.
Absolutely indecent amount of money.
As a Broncos fan I approve
Injuries coming in 5, 4, 3, 2, …
Over half a billion dollars.... With a B. Holy fuck.
Since stadium seat prices & tv/radio ads pay for these ludicrous salaries, it also forces our costs up for everything advertised.
There was once a time when a six million dollar man was about a cyborg.
That is stupid money. Far too many sports people getting paid way too much.
That's wonderful for him but I can only think of homeless people living on the street.
No player is worth that much.
That’s just sick. And I don’t mean in a good way
I've seen every QB since Johnny Unitas, and I've never seen anyone better than Mahomes.
Worth every penny too. Good for him.
The way the salary cap goes up every year, the Chiefs just got a bargain. QBs who aren't as good as Mahomes get paid nearly as much.
And they don’t even know if he can bend his knee. Lol
He’s on the back nine of his career so this is likely a large overpay but he’s labor. He is not the problem. The oligarchy that can pay this from their couch change is the problem.
He could invest 99% of that in communities and still live an amazing life.
I’m a die-hard out-of-market Packers fan, but I can’t afford to sub to all the various streaming services to watch games, let alone see a game live. All I have left is radio. Pro Sports will eventually eat themselves.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have agreed to a contract extension with an NFL record total value of $504.75 million, Mahomes’ agency announced. The agreement adds two years to the QB's deal, according to multiple reports, putting him under contract with Kansas City through 2033. nyti.ms/4ojU44F
If NFL owners can spend half a billion on one player they can pay for their own goddamn stadiums instead of holding the cities taxpayers hostage to pay for it.
Have they watched him play
IF NOT FULLY GUARANTEED ITS JUST CAP NONSENSE
What a giant waste of money.
man that window is slamming shut
Report: Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs agree to first NFL deal worth over $500M.
$63M a yr for 8 years of playing football. No wonder tickets cost an arm and a leg. Explain to me why athletes are paid more than teachers, doctors scientists and all the rest of the people who actually do something to benefit humanity. Our priorities are fucked up.
Damn. I could have just as easily helped KC miss the playoffs last season for 10% of that amount.
Given Drake Maye becomes eligible for an extension at the end of the regular season I am very interested in the details of the Patrick Mahomes extension. Does this new Mahomes contract become a block in the sense no one surpasses it for several years?
I thought that would happen with his last extension, but DeShaun Watson got a bigger AAV (5/230 fully guaranteed) in March 2022 before Mahomes' new contract years had even kicked in...
I wonder if it could be used as a framework for a longer-term deal as well. There aren't many of those deals but that security would surely help long-term planning for the roster to contend too
