Canada confirms Gordie Howe International Bridge will open this week
Canada's prime minister said Tuesday the long-delayed Gordie Howe International Bridge linking Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan will "be open at the end of the week." The cross-border project was held up for years by lawsuits, cost overruns and opposition from the Moroun family, which owns the rival Ambassador Bridge, and the White House says former President Donald Trump's opposition "has not changed." The new crossing will be the third vehicle link between the cities, intended to ease congestion and speed trade across the busiest Canada-U.S. border, with implications for auto supply chains and regional commerce.
After 8 years, Gordie Howe Bridge between Detroit and Windsor is ready to open. But Trump has threatened to block it after owner of rival span makes a political donation. Bad for Michigan. Bad for America. www.crainsdetroit.com/politics-pol...
Historically, it was very difficult to stop Gordie Howe.
Nothing the release of the Epstein files can't fix
When it opens Canada should charge Americans triple the toll Canadians pay. At least until Trump is removed from office.
Why does a private individual own a publicly utilized bridge? Another day, another bribe.
Americans have made us regret building a bridge to unite us with them. Maybe WE should prevent it from opening AND force the closure of the Ambassador Bridge. After all, why would any of us want/need to use it and why would we want any of you coming here?
Trump is a corrupt criminal. Tens of millions of taxpayer’s dollars went in to the construction of that bridge. And Trump refuses to open it because it will draw revenue away from a privately owned bridge in the other side of the City. Unbelievable cronyism and criminality from the Trump Regime
Trump couldn't stop the opening of the Gordie Howe Bridge. A big shout out to @brianmasse.bsky.social who worked tirelessly to get this bridge open. Canadians are boycotting Trump but the bridge is a symbol of the deep connection between Ontario and Michigan. Better days ahead. Someday.
I suggest Canada rename the bridge in honour of Isaac Brock en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_o...
If Trump successfully stops the bridge from opening perhaps Michigan needs to leave the Union.
Canadians are & should continue to boycott, however, there's alot of cross border business trade that needs to use this bridge as it remains critical for Canada's economy. Democratic Governor Whitmer of Michigan lobbied the White House hard to open the bridge apparently.
