Caissie Levy wins Tony for Ragtime
Caissie Levy won the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for playing Mother in Ragtime. In her acceptance speech Levy dedicated the performance to her mother and thanked the babysitters WHO supported her family during the show's run. The Ragtime revival dramatizes turn-of-the-century American life and Levy's win spotlights the production's emotional center, likely drawing renewed attention to the musical. The award serves as a major career recognition for Levy and highlights the continued cultural relevance of Ragtime's themes.
The following original cast members of A Chorus Line are still alive: Donna McKechnie Kelly Bishop Ron Kuhlman Baayork Lee Kay Cole Trish Garland Priscilla Lopez Wayne Cilento Nancy Lane #tonyawards
Just so there's no confusion, I am royally pissed* they weren't invited. Donna and Kelly won Tonys for ACL. Lopez and Cilento would both win in the future. Baayork Lee has basically dedicated her life to preserving ACL and the legacy of Michael Bennett *(not as much as I assume Ken Mandelbaum is)
Yeah, I really did not think that was a fitting tribute to ACL. No chorus, no dancing…idk, just really did not think it worked or felt right for their 50th.
