Police remove diabetes experts from ADA conference for distributing critique of Trump administration
Police escorted several diabetes researchers out of the American Diabetes Association annual scientific sessions in New Orleans after they handed out copies of an editorial that criticized the Trump administration's changes to biomedical research. The editorial ran in Diabetes Care, the ADA's journal, and some of the removed researchers, including Drs. Kahn and Ryder, had been scheduled to present at the meeting. Video from outside the convention center shows officers threatening arrest while removing the group. Organizers' removal of critics at a major medical conference raises immediate concerns about curbs on dissent within professional scientific forums and could disrupt planned research presentations.

He was distributing printed copies of that article. This is a delicious act of resistance, especially when the #NIH director Jay Bhattacharya was slated to give a talk.
Janet Rosenbaum (she/her)2I checked the rules of the conference that I registered for most recently, and they also have rules against distributing materials outside, phrased as being the conference center's rule, so maybe it's about litter, fire hazards, or limiting handouts to the expo.
