DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin refuses to commit to following court orders
At a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin refused to guarantee his department would follow federal court orders, telling senators he reserves the right to disregard rulings. Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy told Mullin that even Republican-appointed judges have accused DHS of violating nearly 100 court orders this year. That stance creates legal and operational uncertainty for DHS immigration enforcement and may prompt congressional or judicial responses that affect the agency's funding and preparations for events such as the upcoming World Cup.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin just repeatedly refused to commit to following court orders from judges who rule that DHS is acting illegally.
Contempt of court it is.
What I learned in school -- way way back in the day -- he would be sanctioned or arrested for this ....How can they continually violate the constitution and judges and no one is sending in the military to arrest them?
Off to jail with him then.....pretty simple really.
If anyone thought that Trump appointed him to follow the rules, then I have an amazing crypto opportunity for you.
In that case, he is going to jail! 🙂
Congress should immediately demand his resignation, then.
They didn’t ask him that during his confirmation hearings?
This little tiny man with very little education and a big chip on his little shoulders will not last in the Trump regime.
He also said there were ANTIFA flags at the latest ICE protest and anyone who is Anti-fascist should be jailed... let that one sink in because it's every American left with a brain cell.
Someone should arrest him, then.
Of course he’s not going to follow rules or the law. He figures he only has to answer to his boss who also doesn’t follow the law.
The prosecutors at his future contempt of court trials will play this clip to prove the (mens rea) to prove he knew he was in contempt and failed to comply anyway.
Article 1 at his impeachment.
FFS Some of these guys like Mullin are willing to destroy the country in order to prove themselves to their dead grandfathers.
He’s a plumber not a lawyer…
For more than 30 years, a federal court order has required the prompt release of children in immigration detention. Courts have interpreted that to mean no more than 20 days. The Trump Administration is not only violating that court order, but they are fighting in court to end it entirely.
During Trump’s second term, more than 6,300 children have been detained, 97% of whom have no criminal record, and some of whom are only two months old. This Administration has gone to extraordinary lengths to make sure you never see what is happening to these children.
"According to its 2027 budget proposal, the White House wants to add 30,000 more beds in family detention centers." Rep Castro: "To really understand that's going on with Dilley, we gotta be able to see what's going on behind those walls. There's a brutality behind those walls."
Honestly this is just SICK it’s sick It’s pure hate
In Senate hearing, DHS Sec Markwayne Mullin refused to commit to following court orders, saying that some lower court decisions are politicized and overturned by higher courts. Not clear if he appreciates that his answers, to sure-footed Qa by Sen Murphy, are breathtaking, the soul of lawlessness.
On behalf of lawyers suing DHS and the judiciary, we appreciate Markwayne Mullin providing us with excellent evidence to support any contempt motion/order.
Mullin is too stupid to appreciate how outrageous, unprecedented and disqualifying his response was. He probably thought he was being “bold” and stating “hard truths” rather than confirming how lawless and corrupt he and the entire Trump regime is.
I guess that's one way to marginalize the Judiciary. Ignore all decisions until they get appealed to your conservative majority in SCOTUS. Breathtaking lawlessness!
Translation: WE WILL DECIDE WHICH LAWS ARE WORTHY OF OUR COMPLIANCE
JUST IN: DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin won't commit to abide by court orders. via @JAscholtes www.politico.com/live-updates...
“We’re not going to break the law, but we won’t abide by judge’s rulings” Once again, completely saddened (and angered) by how many people in charge cannot understand (or refuses to admit they understand) the absolute elementary school-level basics of how a law is made.
If DHS and ICE will not abide by the law, then there is no incentive for anyone else to either.
And this is why you don't hire a nepo baby plumber to run a federal law enforcement agency
Okay. A good precedent for future Dem administrations.
This should be a disqualification.
... and its important to note that NO TRUMP ALLIGNED REPUBLICAN IN THE HOUSE OR SENATE feels that they: - must abide by Supreme Court Orders - Respect any House Meeting - abide by any Domestic or Family court order - abide by any International treaty, request or norm Your thoughts
Court order. Otherwise known as "the law"
the senate swapped out Crusty for another fascist criminal Impeach his sorry ass
Area HS graduate, former plumbing company owner, has thoughts on the Constitution.
Then he should be removed with extreme prejudice. These traitors are showing their hands, believe them.
This of course, rolls up. I don't understand that almost every chaotic daily occurence is pr etty much Trump failing knowingly and willingly to faithfully execute the Office of President. He pretty much waves off the entire Constitution off and just over half of Congress is letting him do it.
Until he reverses course, not a dime for ICE and no funding increases for the rest of DHS.
Go on… this will be great in court.
That probably have been asked before he was confirmed, but he fits in perfectly with Trump’s crime family
That should be disqualifying for him to even hold the position. Refusing to abide by lawful orders should be disqualifying for any government employee.
Arrest, impeach, convict and incarcerate Mullin and every other trumper who defies the rule of law including trump.
For reference "Judge Schiltz attached to his ruling a list of 96 court orders from 74 different immigration cases that ICE has failed to follow since Jan. 1" www.nytimes.com/2026/01/28/u...
Are republicans just going to refuse to follow rules forever now? It’s infuriating.
they have training? how to NOT ANSWER A DIRECT QUESTION ? THEY DEMONIZE JUDGES AND OUR WAY OF LIFE
