My biggest non-CTE takeaway from the Claude Lemieux news and all the anecdotes being shared about him is that we are absolutely fucking failing at making sure our professional athletes are in any way prepared for the (ideally majority) portion of their lives when they’re no longer pro athletes

It’s okay to not be okay, and it’s okay to ask for help. With Claude Lemieux, I would not be remotely surprised to find out that he was dealing with CTE.

Claude Lemieux was a dirty son of a bitch as a player, but the circumstances of his death are absolutely dire and another reminder that mental health and CTE are serious conditions that shouldn’t be treated lightly.
