Blue Sky Art Show, theme 'Growth'

This week's #BlueSkyArtShow theme was 'Growth', and the Bluesky timeline filled with spring. The botanical entries dominated, from ferns and beechnuts to chives, Japanese gardens, and spring forests in every state. Baby animals took the second wave: cygnets, squirrels, and fledglings learning to fly. A few looser interpretations rounded it out, from Yosemite granite to the kind of growth you can't photograph.

A large clump of ferns growing on the woodland floor. Behind it tall thin trees are glowing with early summer greenness. According to Wiki this is Dryopteris filix-mas, the male fern, native to much of Europe, Asia, and North America. It favours damp shaded areas in the understory of woodlands.

This image shows a closeup of a chive blossom and several buds on top of slender green stalks. The blossom is in full focus, and we have an excellent view of its numerous purple petals, their veins, and their pointed tips. The blossom hasn't quite emerged from the calyx, which is still slightly wrapped around it at the base of the flower. A few new petals that are still green can be seen here. One of the buds is in full focus and appears in the lower right. We see nice detail of the purplish-brown calyx. Both the flower and calyx are on top of a slender green stalks. Other, out-of-focus buds can be on the right side of the image. The remaining background is filled with a beautiful green bokeh from more distant stalks.
