Shrey Parikh, 14, of Rancho Cucamonga, California, won the 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee after a 90-second spell-off, correctly spelling 32 words and finishing with the winning word bromocriptine. Parikh prevailed over runner-up Ishaan Gupta, 12, of Jersey City, New Jersey, after three days of competition that narrowed the field to nine finalists in Washington, D.C. He takes home the Scripps Cup, a commemorative medal, and $52,500. The dramatic lightning-round finish highlighted competitors' speed and recall and showed how rapid-fire tiebreakers now decide champions.
