Blue Origin New Glenn rocket explodes during static fire test at Cape Canaveral
Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket exploded at Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral during a static-fire test, destroying the vehicle while no crew or payload were aboard. Blue Origin said all staff are accounted for and no injuries occurred, and the NG‑4 mission that was to carry Amazon LEO satellites has been delayed while teams investigate. Engineers will scrutinize the BE-4 engines that power New Glenn and United Launch Alliance's Vulcan, and the failure represents a major setback for Blue Origin's effort to compete with SpaceX's Falcon 9.
BREAKING: Blue Origin's New Glenn blows up at Launch Complex-36 while attempting to static fire.
Is this what Jeff’s doing instead of paying taxes? Cool.
NASA, sitting back and watching Musk and Bezos shit their pants trying to build a rocket:
Yeah, private firms can do it better than NASA..... 🙄
I believe the term is "rapid unscheduled disassembly".
Now do it with Bezos aboard.
I'm starting to think space is big boy work for serious nation states and not a playground for the wealthiest children to ever exist 🙄
Damn, that must of cost Bezos about 15 minutes worth of his hourly earnings...
MORE LIKE JEFF BOZOS AMIRITE
Everyone in charge of going to space is a moron now
Hahahahahahahahahhaha What a fucking choad! Just blowing up shit when he could be doing good for millions of people.
If only we had some government agency that successfully launched space craft so routinely that we forgot they were doing it. But of course government could never do anything as well as wealthy dilletantes.. /s
Between this mess and the Space X crap 💩 show, the United States isn’t landing on the moon and or building a “pie in the sky” moon base. These two boondoggles are both white elephant money pits.
I mean good. Billionaires shouldn’t own access to space. We don’t need to privatize every damn thing. Just makes monsters.
How the fuck do all these private rocket companies keep failing at something NASA accomplished 60 years ago? I honestly think they're just scams, that they have no intention of actually going to space, they just keep taking in money and failing.
Wanna inspo for your kickboxing session? bsky.app/profile/jeis...
If you hit the like button at the 22 second mark then it feels like you are blowing up the rocket yourself
this is why my amazon order took too long to arrive
If you people want to see American tax-payer paid explosions, look what Israel is doing with US tax money in Lebanon and Palestine's Gaza Strip currently.
obvious vs oblivious: sorry. but NOT sorry. men who destroy the planet and her creatures including people should not be allowed to go into space.
Yet, NASA was able to master this six decades ago.
The people we could have fed and housed with that money. The healthcare we could have provided. The teachers we could have given a livable salary.
Maybe the guy that delivers cheap DVDs and bulk diapers shouldn’t be building rockets.
Take these billionaires' money and give it all to NASA.
When did the people grant Bezos the right to cause this level of environmental destruction?
So how much was that? 200 million? No problem. Jeff will deduct it from the taxes he doesn't even pay.
And I need to turn down my AC because carbon emissions?
LOL. Well maybe rockets and not for Bezo's.
How does this help a teacher in Queens?
These people have too much god damn money.
No symbolism here for what the Tech Bros are doing to America...
We don’t need this. We don’t need any of this.
🤣🤣🤣🤣Too bad that the money Butthead Bezos spent(wasted)on his penis envy project, could have been spent to help people struggling with everyday challenges in this worsening economy!Hell what his plastic fantastic wife spends on all her body putty could fund every food bank in the country for a year!
Jeff my man would have been a lot simpler to just burn a pile of $1,000,000,000 worth of cash.
Tax write off for Bezos.
It wasn't supposed to do that was it?
Too bad Bezos wasn’t inside.
Your tax money at work, yes it was his money, that he got from us. Billion$ contracts 🤷♂️
They really should have added some more shielding around that exhaust port
Fund NASA. Defund oligarch techbros.
BADASS EXPLOSION HOLY SHIT THAT WAS COOL
Astronaut Katie Perry: “I flew to space in a giant dick owned by a tiny dick. I’m an astronaut “
Bye bye $35 free shipping
We're literally buying his toys for him.
she was right, everyone apologize
To whoever you meet next that says the "private sector" can do a better job...show them this video...cause this is the result of PS failure on a grand level.
Not getting on one of those exploding penises.
I think it might be time for NASA to reconsider using either Boeing or Lockheed Martin for their rockets. They might be more expensive but seem a lot less likely to blow up.
Yikes… Blue Origin's New Glenn just blew up at LC-36 while attempting to Static Fire ahead of NG-4.
so does that mean they get an IPO now, too?
All these billionaire rocket/space hobbyists need to just stop. Give money to NASA and let them engineer for the U.S.
Control room: {loud cheers} we collected so much fuckin data!!
This shit is just great for our environment
Just ripping off SpaceX at this point.
All I see is money that could have been spent feeding kids being blown up and our environment being polluted and for what? To charge the rich “suborbital space tourism” when we have humanitarian needs on earth?
Was that not supposed to happen? I'm new to rockets
You can see where it goes wrong when it explodes
This is why billionaires shouldn’t be in charge.
How about no billionaires get any government funds unless they go on these rockets.
How many people could we feed or house with the money that's literally burning on that launch pad?
They gonna need a new New Glenn
Do more rockets blow up on the launch pad these days? It seems like it.
I'm no rocket scientist, but that looks bad.
$5B more in taxpayer funds immediately
Wwll I assume NG-4 is going to be delayed...
Headline: The beginning of the countdown was really successful
Are Americans happy giving Billionaires money to blow shit up ?
Wow. It will take SpaceX *some* effort to top *this* "rapid unscheduled disassembly"™, I reckon.
"How hard could it be?", they thought.
Hope all are ok…. Pretty massive explosive force.
That sound you hear is actually the Melania Documentary Sequel getting green-lit
Clearly they just need more of our taxes.
Rocket science is just fancy plumbing
Everything Musk touches is trash. His management policies reflects his lack of technical knowledge, lack of respect for the real professionals and the part of his ego that makes him cut corners that are crucial and hire losers to do highly technical work.
Ouch, wonder how cooked the launch pad infrastructure is now
Let me know when there are billionaires on board at the time.
But which AI made it work so effortlessly?
There was no sound 😢
Tax dollar goes in flame 🔥 again
I'd call that a static fire that expanded dynamically. 🙄🤭
BREAKING: Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket just exploded during testing in Cape Canaveral, Florida. techcrunch.com/2026/05/28/b...
Big big big big big explosion. Unclear if anyone was hurt, though it appears BO was doing a static fire and launchpads are usually made safe beforehand techcrunch.com/2026/05/28/b...
Im beginning to think neither Elon or Jeff are serious about getting to the Moon or Mars, and this is just a giant waste of money to troll the human race
This is a 24-second crop of @nasaspaceflight.com's live view of Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at around 9:00 pm Eastern. During a static fire test, the entire New Glenn 4 rocket exploded and was destroyed—seemingly taking much of the pad with it.
Blue Origin confirmed on Twitter that all personnel were accounted for (and this is *exactly* the kind of reason people are kept far from hotfire tests and launches). (Except for the crew, but they have their own way of escaping if they need to.)
It must be um, "interesting" living in Titusville across the bay from Cape Canaveral.
Reminiscent of the Antares pad explosion at Wallops in 2014. Spacex also suffered a launch failure the following year which resulted in loss of payload (including a docking adapter) on an ISS cargo delivery flight. Don't much care for the owner of Amazon but this incident should not be personalized.
Dammit. Blue Origin’s New Glenn blew up during a test firing. The cargo lost was Amazon’s Leo satellites, but this will set back Artemis 3 and 4 months. Maybe a year.
They weren't happening anyway in the timeframe set, which was more about US presidential elections than about tech being ready.
Maybe we should have NASA build these things again? They seemed to blow them up a lot less often. Just saying.
How many Billionaires are trying to put satellites in orbit? 🤓 For perspective: * There are now well over 10,000 active satellites in orbit. * SpaceX alone accounts for a very large percentage of them. * Multiple companies want constellation How many are solving world hunger? 😳
@nasaspaceflight.com post on Twitter: New Glenn rocket just exploded on the launch pad in a static test firing. Unclear how badly damaged the pad (LC-36) is or if payload was on board. x.com/nasaspacefli...
FYI, the basic explosive energy assumption for Methane-Oxygen fuel for ground safety is currently 1.0 times combined propellant masses, which for New Glenn is ~1,270 tons of propellant, or a ~1.2 kiloton explosion.
