IISc unveiled 'Eureka', a machine that models natural problem-solving to tackle tasks current AI struggles with. Researchers describe Eureka as a computational framework that mimics exploration, variation, and selection processes found in biological systems. Instead of relying primarily on pattern fitting from large datasets, Eureka prioritizes exploratory search and adaptive recombination of candidate solutions. IISc says this approach could let AI enable creative discovery, handle rare-event problems, and solve design challenges beyond existing models.
