Valve raises Steam Deck prices, 1TB OLED now $949
Valve raised U.S. Steam Deck prices, increasing the 1TB OLED from $649 to $949 and the 512GB OLED from $549 to $789. Those jumps exceed 40 percent and mirror similar price increases announced for the UK and Canada. Valve said the hikes reflect rising component costs and global logistical challenges. The larger price gap pushes premium Steam Deck configurations well above many handheld alternatives and makes higher-capacity models substantially less affordable for buyers.
Valve has raised Steam Deck prices in the US • 1TB OLED $649 -> $949 • 512GB OLED $549 -> $789 still out of stock store.steampowered.com/steamdeck
we will never own anything ever again
oh that steam machine price is gonna be real bad
Steam Deck units now back in stock store.steampowered.com/steamdeck LCD Refurb in-stock ($279/$319/$359 no increase) store.steampowered.com/sale/steamde... Info "these new prices reflect the current state of component costs and other global logistical challenges across the industry as a whole"
Oh the steam machine is DEAD DEAD ON ARRIVAL. Like WTF???
that money could go toward great causes like constructing a blender large enough to fit the entire executive suites of Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Nvidia
Man FUCK NINTENDO I can't believe they did this
As a Deck owner, This shit still sucks
Data centers are the fault
GGs That Steam Machine is going to be over 1000+
i will not have a good nights sleep until im able to read sam altmans obituary
Well there goes my hopes of ever getting an OLED
The same people who gave the other companies shit for this explaining how Valve is innocent here
Appreciate valve being transparent about them giving up on the hardware business lol. These prices are a joke
The future of gaming is incredibly bleak. It isn’t because of the “UE5 look” or microtransactions, wokeness, or any other stuff parroted by ragebait Youtubers, but because the future of ownership of media as a whole is coming to an end. No affordability will play an incredibly big part in that.
I guess I owe Playstation an apology, shit really *is* That Bad.
Fucking yikes. I’m glad I own one but this does not bode well for the steam machine. :/
...Yknow what maybe I'll just get one of those third-party handhelds and load it up with a bunch of emulators if that's the way it's gonna be
This has me terrified on how the steam frame is gonna be priced
Imo kinda crazy when you take into account that the switch 2 technically has better performance and only got a 50 dollar prince increase
Steam Deck 2 is gonna be $1,500-$2,000 then? This timeline sucks.
congrats to all assholes everywhere who got so hyped about AI because it displaced the people they didn’t like. we’re in the future now and it sucks ass
So uhhh how many people feeling good about that Steam Machine price/release date…if it ever does release? 😬
still out of stock So it's Schrödinger's price increase 😂 😭
Steam Machine price is gonna be brutal oof
Both models are now >$1100 CAD. What the fuck
How do you raise the price on something that doesn't exist
Holy fuuuuuck, what is anything anymore. The Steam Machine isn't going to sell *anything,* if this is any indication.
By far the WORST price increase among other consoles but just price tags being as glaring as the PS5 consoles.
And you dont even own your games LMAO
Damn, so me getting my 256GB LCD Steam Deck for $320 on Black Friday was genuinely a last copter out-type moment for me, LOL.
$300 increase is absolutely WILD
Hey remember when the steam controller was $5?
I think its safe to say the industry is effectively doomed atp right? It might be a good time to start finding other interests.
Steam machine is gonna be at least 1200 bucks
an ROG ally x is only like 50 dollars more now and has better specs, steam deck has practically lost the value advantage it had.
Welp I'll never be able to afford a Steam Deck I guess lmao
Man, I'm going back to reading books because screw this.
I think the entire pivot into Steam hardware may fail with the current market conditions. Valve just had the worst luck imaginable in terms of timing and too many consumers will be priced out.
And people said that steam would be the king of the gaming industry LMAO
Holy crap. Makes my Lenovo Go S Z1E for $600 look like a freaking steal. Also runs Steam OS and it's more powerful.
Those are some disgustingly significant increases making Sony and Nintendo look not as bad lol
They have taken our bread and now they come for our circuses!
Welp, guess I won’t get one now.
It really should read "We killed our hardware project" cause nope. Steam Deck V1 is not worth that price.
Well I WAS gonna buy a Steam Deck...
Glad I got mine at launch and did my own upgrades... sorry for others trying to get in now, literally do not bother. Get a tablet and controller, a retro handheld (Ayn/Anbernic/Powkiddy/etc) for now, you'll have a better time discovering older games you missed.
Well I guess I absolutely won’t be getting a steam machine now lmao.
probably to funnel people into buying the refurbished stock, they prob dont expect anyone buying ts cuz its hella overpriced
That's a hell of a price increase.
Love mine to death but man that's a hard sell
Good lord. Sounds like they need to restart production of the cheaper LCD ones.
That's because all the RAM and GPUs are being used for AI
@supnovagy.bsky.social you wanted an SD OLED right? I'm sorry...
LMFGDAO!!! I didnt have the money to start with, AND I sure as fuck would NEVER pay a full months rent for a fucking handheld system. Especially not for something that is completely digital.
We really don’t need AI.
If it’s as expensive as a windows alternative I honestly don’t think it’s worth it at all
And people will still eat it up like the obedient consumers they are, knowing how things go...
I'm impressed Switch 2 price hike wasn't way worse than it was tbh
Well fuck my fucking ass right in the fucking ass.
1000 dollary doos?! Well ... Guess I'm never upgrading my 64gb 😭
I love my Steam Deck but that’s insulating! In no world is it worth that price.
Wow so much shite being spouted here. The reason for the price raise is the cost of DRAM. Simple as that. Anyone with any experience in the electronics industry will tell you that.
My impulse buy of a PS5 a couple months ago is starting to look like a good one. Yeesh.
Damn that’s way too high…. I’m so grateful that I bought my steam deck the time that I did. It makes the switch 2 look affordable (can’t afford a switch 2 atm tho)
WELL NVM I GUESS damn
As someone who was very excited about the steam machine and steam frame; this is ROUGH 😭
…Steam Machine is going to be $1000, huh?
Me: I'd love a steam deck but 600 dollars is way out of my price range... Maybe it'll come down... Valve: *grabs the sandpaper condoms*
Do. We. Need. More. Reasons. To. Hate. AI. Yet?
Steam machine will be around 1500 or even more at this rate. what a joke lmao
Yeaaaaaah I’m never getting a Steam Deck at this point
Steam deck, pretty good ROI
The 512GB Steam Deck OLED now costs $789, up from $549, while the 1TB model costs $949, up from $649.
So a Steam Machine will be more than 1000 $ ?
Oohhh boy did I buy at the right time. Upgrading the PC and getting my OLED steam deck in December was a little more money than I wanted to spend, but every day that goes buy makes it clear that was definitely the right choice
Now that playstation got the heat from raising their price, the rest can follow without a care in the world.
As an owner of a 1TB OLED Steam Deck, this sucks and fuck Generative AI. If you want a Steam Deck, just nab a refurbished LCD model.
WTF do you mean the prices went up by like, 50%??? And I thought Sony's new prices with the PS5 were insane...
well so much for low pricing.. FUCK AI AND FUCK MICROSLOP I know that shitty ass corporate is 100% responsible for this after getting scared of valve
The AI bubble can't burst fast enough. Not like I didn't see this coming between that, and the tariff costs.
ppl don't hate AI enough. :P
