Trump DOJ deletes Jan. 6 prosecution press releases from website

newsMay 27, 202677

The Trump Department of Justice removed government news releases about Jan. 6 prosecutions from the DOJ website, including releases that described violent assaults on Capitol police officers. NPR found the deletions included announcements of charges, plea agreements, convictions and sentencing for rioters WHO stormed the U.S. Capitol. Removing those official releases shrinks the public record of how federal prosecutors documented and punished the attack, making it harder for journalists, historians and the public to cite primary DOJ materials.
