Ofgem raises UK energy price cap 13%, adding ~£221 from July
Ofgem raised the UK energy price cap to £1,862 a year for a typical dual-fuel household from 1 July, a 13% increase that adds about £221 annually, roughly £18 a month. The regulator said the rise is driven by higher wholesale gas prices caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has pushed up import costs. The increase comes on top of elevated bills since the 2021 energy crisis, leaving many households with noticeably higher annual energy costs. That escalation increases pressure on household budgets and raises the urgency for targeted government support for vulnerable households.

The US and Israel should be blamed .
Decoupling from gas price is a total no brainier - this strategy just generates windfall profits for the elec co’s. Why hasn’t it been done? Bribes, sorry, ‘donations’? I really don’t know.
£200 here there and everywhere costs rise. More than eats up any OAP state pension increase 😡
BREAKING: Average annual energy bills will rise by hundreds of pounds from July for a typical dual fuel household, the energy regulator Ofgem has announced. It represents a 13% increase to £1,862 a year for a typical household. That means bills will cost £18 more a month.
Thank thatcher for privatising the sector
And Blair wants UK Labour to move us closer to Trump, a bloke who’s cost everyone of us more money.
These are policy choices. www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
Prices are only rising because of successive UK governments failure to switch to renewable energy Even now fossil fuels & damaging biomass are being subsidised #axedrax
Dan Tomlinson says the govt won't be rolling out a universal scheme to help everyone with their energy bills. Instead it'll take targeted steps. The interviewer asks him who'll receive the targeted help & when it will be available. Dan refuses to say
Oil companies will receive the targeted help We, the people, are here only to be exploited
Jesus that’s bad comms. Even “I’ve not been briefed on one energy support I’m afraid” would be better than saying “there’s a review in 3 months and anything could happen, we’ll do something if we need to” You need to now
The few good things this Gov does are the dictionary definition of far too little, far too late.
Aaaah means testing, everyone's favourite way to ensure a scheme helps nobody
That will be the foreign owned energy companies
He’s talking means testing, points scoring Tory policy and dare not admit it.
Targeted steps like taking the millions #Labour gives to #Drax and spending it on home insulation perhaps?
