Ofgem raises UK energy price cap 13%, adding ~£221 from July

Ofgem raised the UK energy price cap to £1,862 a year for a typical dual-fuel household from 1 July, a 13% increase that adds about £221 annually, roughly £18 a month. The regulator said the rise is driven by higher wholesale gas prices caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has pushed up import costs. The increase comes on top of elevated bills since the 2021 energy crisis, leaving many households with noticeably higher annual energy costs. That escalation increases pressure on household budgets and raises the urgency for targeted government support for vulnerable households.
