Green Party selects Sarah Wakefield as Makerfield candidate
Sarah Wakefield, a Manchester city councillor and charity director, will be the Green Party candidate in the Makerfield by-election on June 18. She replaces the party's initial candidate after that person withdrew and the Green Party announced Wakefield's selection. Wakefield's candidacy puts the Greens on the ballot and could attract environmentally minded voters, potentially affecting vote dynamics in the local contest.

Labour bleat about a Green vote letting Reform in, but it's desperation because they can't offer anything positive. Ignore it. If Andy Burnham is going to win he needs to win on his own merit.

The Green Party should campaign for Makerfield exactly like they campaigned for Gorton and Denton. If Andy Burnham so desperately needs their votes he can come and offer the Green Party voters something to make them change their mind.
