My favorite album for so long when I was a youngster Getting Better Fixing a Hole She’s Leaving Home When I’m Sixty Four Lovely Rita
I mean, people still kinda misunderstand the concept to this very day. It's not an album by The Beatles. It's an album by Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. And that remains a pretty mind-blowing idea, beyond the indisputable fact that the music is astoundingly great. Love. Every. Note.
She's Leaving Home Getting Better
A Day in the Life She's Leaving Home Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Apart from the obvious choices I'd have to weigh in with Being For The Benefit of Mr Kite!
A Day In The Life Fixing A Hole With A Little Help From My Friends
I can't decide. It's one of the more lighthearted albums. But the more I listened to the Beatles, I was eventually drawn to Harrison's compositions. I think he is underrated.
A fantastic album representing, in our view, The Beatles at their peak. They are hitting on all aspects with creativity, music, song writing and fun. We so love this album A Day in the Life When I'm Sixty-Four Getting Better...so many great songs here!
Ridiculously overused word these days, but Gamechanger.
Very contrarian take here: I appreciate their hard work and attempt to do something different, but this album does not move me like its two phenomenal predecessors nor The White album!!😘 Plus the double A-sided single released concurrently features 2 outstanding tracks that are clearly superior...
She’s leaving home A day in the life Sgt Peppers lonely hearts club band When I’m sixty four Lucy in the sky with diamonds
A fabulous album but no Lp deserves the hype it’s received & the consensus opinion presented as fact in the public consciousness It would need to include Eleanor Rigby Strawberry Fields Forever & Penny Lane to be in with a shout of that & then I might concede the point
What can one say about this album? Beautiful music and production from beginning to end. Damn near 60 years old and it still holds up and sounds fresh. Stand out tracks for me are Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and A Day in the Life.
Mind blowing. I remember when it came out. Favorite tracks She’s leaving home and a Day in the life.
For me, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is one of those rare albums where there truly isn't a bad song. Because of that, I honestly can't choose favorites.
The first album that I owned.
Love the album and the movie- for different reasons.
It was groundbreaking. At the time my favorite British group was The Animals.
You had to be there. Before Sgt Pepper albums were mostly just collections of the 45 rpm singles + some fillers. This intro’d the concept album as a complete artistic work. It also intro’d tape loops, dble tracking, orchestral overdubs. And it mixed rock & psychedelic. It was truly a game changer.
Its a very good album, if a bit over-rated. I prefer The White Album, Revolver and Abbey Road actually. On a positive note, I really like 'A Day In The Life' a lot.
"...sold more that 32 million copies worldwide." Me: That's all?! Only 32 million???
The enduring legacy of the Beatles: their phenomenally influential Sgt. Pepper was released #OTD in 1967, launching the Summer of Love; and today in 1973, the compilation LP Beatles 1967-1970 hit No. 1 on the charts, three years after they had disbanded. Will that legacy live on for decades? Oh yes.
My dad had all of their records, so I found myself playing the full albums rather than the red and blue compilations. Saying that, they are a glorious collection. I prefered the blue one.
The “red” and “blue”anthologies were my initial deep-dives into The Fabs, thank to a high school art teacher w/ a cool & eclectic class library. Of course, I’d later indulge in the official releases for deep cuts, but these collections, for me, are canon…
You can listen for three straight hours, never repeat a song, and recognize every one.
Hard to emphasize enough how the release of Sgt. Pepper influenced other bands at the time, and led to the creation of some great music in the late 60's. It was very innovative, from the production methods to the performances.
The red and blue releases were glorious. I still have all the vinyl. Then I bought the cassette versions which I still own for some strange reason. That band is part of my DNA.
the blue album was excellent as was the red album
The Beatles are timeless. For generations to come people will be listening to their music.
