The Mandalorian and Grogu opens to a $165M four‑day Memorial Day weekend
Disney's The Mandalorian and Grogu opened to an estimated $165 million worldwide over the four-day Memorial Day weekend, with $102 million domestically and $63 million internationally. The movie is a theatrical spin-off of Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian streaming series, bringing the show's characters, including Grogu, to multiplex audiences. The strong opening will boost Disney's summer box-office outlook and underscores the studio's reliance on Star Wars franchises for tentpole revenue.
watching a northernlion stream and he said "are you guys gonna see The Mandalorian vs. Groglet" and now that phrase is just stuck in my head. The Mandalorian vs. Groglet.
Weekly Planet jokes breaking containment it seems 😂
EPIC RAP BATTLES OF HISTO
The Mr. Sunday Movie Special!
Which one do you think will win??? The other will be canonically dead forever (real)

As a Weekly Planet fan, it's kind of crazy hearing you say this.
Cant drink in an Australian pub, call that a Groglet
Honestly a better title bsky.app/profile/wppo...
I regret to inform you that The Mandalorian & Grogu is very fun and the kiddo loved it
I know it’s corny but it made me very happy to see a Star Wars movie with my son
jon favreau is always good.
Seems to be the consensus!
Good to know - taking my kid tomorrow and I’m excited that we’re having an in-theater Star Wars experience together (of course he got harrassed by Stormtroopers last week at Galaxy’s Edge and that IRL interaction sets a high bar for the movie to clear)
I just enjoyed it- not every star war has to be deeply meaningful
I love that 'The Mandalorian & Grogu' is getting low box office scores and high audience ones. Of course it is. It's like one of those 'in this diner in Klansville, Alabama, people still like Donald Trump' pieces.
Watching the trailer was the first time I just felt at a loss with Star Wars. I mean, Rise of Skywalker was unbelievably awful, but I understood the cowardice and soullessness that made it. With this Mando movie, every clip makes me feel that I'm watching a mate play a bad shooter on PS3 in 2008.
I feel like this is yet another instance of where getting freaked out about fanboy reaction to TLJ can lead
After the horror of the awful Rise of Skywalker, seeing Mando season 4 on the big screen was a much better experience. It's for fans of The Mandalorian, anyone who hasn't seen that is not going to have as much fun.
It feel like a computer game, long action sequences and then cut scenes to string them together. But I enjoyed it.
In the group chat, the one nostalgia-fueled diehard wrote two paragraphs of caveats (including “any SW is better than no SW”) about why this series resonates so much for him before saying, simply, it was a good action flick. This is piggy at the trough slop, but there are pigs on the farm!
Clearly anything in the Star Wars font set will do great for a couple of weeks. It’s like shouting free ice cream in Hyde park today. You’d get killed in the stampede before anyone works out all you’ve got is three tubs of frozen yoghurt
