The Mandalorian and Grogu posts $33M Friday but strong audience scores
Jon Favreau's theatrical adaptation The Mandalorian and Grogu opened to $33 million on Friday, the lowest Friday start in Star Wars franchise history. Despite the weak opening, the film earned a series-high audience score for this Mando franchise entry, an unusually strong positive reception. That split between low box office and high audience approval means the movie's long-term performance will likely depend on repeat viewings and sustained word of mouth.
The Mandalorian and Grogu was pleasant but inessential and inspired as little post-film discussion as anything I've recently watched
I'm going to watch something a bit more substantial. Children of Men (2006), set in 2027.
The sad part is that after Rise of Skywalker, I'll take any reaction other than wishing death on everyone associated with the film as an improvement.
I plan to see I Love Boosters this weekend. It's playing at The Grand Cinema!
