Tonight's Fever-Valkyries game was defined by disputed officiating and multiple technical fouls, including a technical assessed for clapping. Pao Pao drilled several late 3-pointers that kept the Valkyries within striking distance in the final minutes. Under league rules a player is only ejected after two flagrants or two technicals, so the sequence of calls did not produce an automatic ejection. The combination of clutch shooting and controversial calls could affect the teams' standings and put officiating consistency under renewed scrutiny.

Golden State’s on a back-to-back, but on the plus side my Libs barely made the Valks break a sweat. Their formula is simple: suppress possessions, play suffocating defense and hoist up more 3s than they can keep up with. It’s a good formula and one Veronica Valkyrie executes flawlessly.

Speaking of the Valkyries, Golden State (3-1) visits the Indiana Fever (3-2) (7:30 ET, ION/League Pass) in one of two games occupying the first part of tonight's ION doubleheader window. It's a good thing for the Valkyries that the Liberty didn't put up too grueling a fight on the first end of their back-to-back! Golden State continued to struggle to hit shots inside the arc, making 41.7% (15-of-36) last night while doing nearly as well from deep (37.1%, 13-of-35) to bring its season
2-point percentage to 42.3% (worst in the league) and 3-point percentage to 36.6% (second-best). It makes a whole fucking lot of sense, then, that the Valkyries lead the WNBA attempting 3-pointers on 40.6% of scoring attempts according to Her Hoop Stats.
