On MSNBC's MS NOW, Lawrence O'Donnell said Donald Trump knows Senate Republicans can block his proposed 'slush fund' and his plans for a private ballroom at Mar-a-Lago. O'Donnell noted the fund was pitched as a program that did not require congressional approval but argued rising Senate GOP opposition, including a definite no from Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, could defeat it. He said that threat reduces Trump's leverage because Republican senators can withhold votes and deny key approvals tied to those projects. If senators block the fund and ballroom efforts, Trump would lose a centralized vehicle for fundraising and event control, complicating his organizational and financial plans.
