DHS’s Mullin warns he may cut processing at 'sanctuary' city airports

newsMay 21, 202615137

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin told travel executives he may suspend immigration and customs processing at airports in cities that do not cooperate with ICE, citing airports in New York City, Portland, and Washington, D.C. Stopping federal screening would block on-site customs and immigration clearance, forcing international flights to skip those airports or cancel and shifting processing to other U.S. ports of entry. The change would reshape international routing, creating delays, economic disruption for affected cities, and new leverage over where foreign passengers are admitted to the United States.
