Senate parliamentarian strips Trump 'ballroom' from reconciliation bill

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse persuaded the Senate parliamentarian to rule that a provision adding Donald Trump's private ballroom to a reconciliation bill was defective, removing the so-called "billionaire ballroom" from the measure. The parliamentarian found the ballroom language violated Senate reconciliation rules and therefore could not be included in the fast-track bill. Whitehouse said, "We won that argument," noting the decision came after one day and it blocks a targeted benefit tied to Trump's claimed $400 million construction project, preventing the provision from moving forward through reconciliation.
