Former federal prosecutor indicted for stealing Jack Smith report
Carmen Lineberger, a former federal prosecutor in Miami, was indicted for emailing an unreleased volume of Special Counsel Jack Smith's sealed report on President Trump's classified documents case to her private email accounts. Federal prosecutors charged Lineberger with four felony counts for removing and transmitting the sealed report, which violated Judge Aileen Cannon's order that the report remain under seal. Court filings show the file was labeled 'Cake recipes' when she sent copies to her private accounts. The indictment raises the prospect of criminal penalties and could prompt stricter court controls over handling sealed special counsel materials.
