Tony Khan announced that WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley will co-host AEW's Double or Nothing Buy-In with Renee Paquette this Sunday. Foley also appeared on WWE Raw this week, showing off his signature Mr. Socko ahead of the AEW appearance. His presence brings veteran star power and nostalgia, and opens immediate possibilities for on-screen segments or match build at AEW's pay-per-view.

I try to be really careful about putting people on pedestals, especially with wrestling. But to me, Mick Foley is the closest we have to one of those legendary, wholesome people in entertainment, in the complicated world of wrestling. It makes me so happy that he's going to have a presence in AEW.

People are complicated, and I didn't give name examples because I don't want to muddy the waters here (it is wrestling after all). But generally speaking, the man has been so kind, and has learned so much, and tried to be a kind person towards others, and I think that's lovely.

Mick is one of the genuinely kindest people within wrestling. He's used his fame to help countless organizations, including RAINN, to raise badly needed funds. He had the integrity to walk away from the WWE machine because of its implicit endorsement of Trump. I'll be happy to see Mick on Sunday.

Watching Mick Foley brings me something unique for a wrestler, a sense of child like joy. The world feels a better place because of him.

I met him in 2014 at one of his comedy shows. He was super friendly. The whole time this guy was laughing extra loud and the Mick called him to the stage and we saw it was Blue Meanie.

Zach Barber13

He's in the Alex Trebek, Betty White, Dolly Parton category of universally beloved and respected in my opinion.

Deb11

Agreed. I've never heard anyone say a bad word about him. I usually hear people say he's the nicest person in the entire wrestling industry. Of course, he's human. But he's proven over decades that he's a good person. Always a fan.

I met him at a car show in Orlando where he signed my home made Mankind mask and a copy of his first book. He was beyond nice and very very funny in person.

Wrestling sucks ... except for .... MANKIND!

Robert the Battletoad6

The fact he walked away from megabucks with The Fed for the sake of doing something better speaks volumes. Have a nice day, indeed.

King Kaiju5

I went to his panel at Tidewater Comicon this past weekend. He is such an amazing person!

The Dark Rattler5

My son and I met him a few years ago at a signing. He was incredibly nice and kind. This was before his surgeries so I felt bad because he had to take pictures with everyone sitting down as his knees were hurting him badly. Also the documentary he did about Santa Claus really put him over the top!

Michael5

He was like Darby, he always put his body on the line almost every match and elevated a lot of people along the way. Hes not a jerk either. I’ve watched him since his Cactus Jack days in old wcw, I’m happy he will have a presence in aew

I absolutely agree. I love him dearly. He actually followed me on Twitter. It made it so much more painful to delete my account 😥😥

shintigercurl4

have never heard a bad word about mickles. so that should tell you who he is as a person. could he be a secret asshole? i dont know. but based on all i know, he seems like uncle grandpa.

amajorletdown3

I agree. In 2000, I was 12, and read his first book—cover to cover—on a car ride from Boston to Orlando with my cousin, who is like a brother to me. We had an awesome time. On the trip home, I read it again, this time with a John F. Kennedy Space Center “Maximum Access” ticket as a bookmark.

He's been very lucky to be one of the few attuide era stars that hasn't had serious effects from numerous concussions, it feels with a lot of athletes in combat sports, you get so much head trauma, that you start to believe in the worst conspiracy nonsense. Foley is a man of empathy and compassion.

QueenNat14993

Mama Foley's baby boy is one of the very few actual LEGENDS in the business that are genuinely a fantastic human being.

Mike DaMark2

He left the fed because they are maga. He is a good man. I’m so happy he is in AEW. I don’t think he’s physically capable anymore but it’s a shame he never got a proper retirement match. If there was ever a chance for him to get a proper send off it’s in AEW

In my college speech class I dressed up as Mick, black sweat pants and checkered red flannel shirt to give a speech about his career, this was 24 years ago and his first book had been out for less than a year. To end the speech I pulled Mr Socko out of my pants and said, "Have a nice day." 🤼
