White Sox rally in ninth to beat Mariners 2-1

sportsMay 20, 202620153

Andrew Benintendi delivered a go-ahead ninth-inning hit, lifting the Chicago White Sox to a 2-1 comeback victory over the Seattle Mariners. Seattle managed only one run and left multiple runners in scoring position, failing to convert two bases-loaded opportunities earlier in the game. Mariners starter Luis Castillo remained on the mound into the ninth and hit Vargas with a 95 mph fastball, putting two on before Benintendi's hit. The loss is the third time this season the White Sox have held the Mariners to one run, underscoring Seattle's ongoing offensive struggles.
