The weekly Bird Of The Day event ran with the 'Eck' theme and today's subtheme ScrollBack was chosen by organizer Alan. Photographers submitted Common Goldeneye, American Tree Sparrow, Mallard and Eared Grebe images shot in Alberta, Canada, in April 2026. Other featured posts included a sandhill crane answering unseen companions, a rain-soaked Greatstone morning in Kent, and an Autumn landscape from Australia. The mix of species, seasons and locations makes the challenge useful for bird identification, tracking migration timing and finding diverse photography inspiration.

a chunk of a bird sat in our robinia. the branch is hefty (it needs to be) and runs horizontally across the bottom of the photo. Glossy black smooth feathers create a solid outline of this large bird set against soft white blossoms and lime green delicate foliage. Its beak is simply massive, like a block of stone chiselled into the shape of beak and stuck to the front of its face and its beady, shiny black eye glistens as it sits on look-out. They are quite jumpy birds and easily scared off, but blummin' persistent at the feeders, as they fly off, do a quick loop and return, just in case you don't notice them
