So the consequence of this most recent dustup with the Bluesky Trust & Safety Team is that now every time a trans woman is banned the presumption of an entire marginalized group on this platform barring full transparency is now going to be that its another example of their bigotry, true or not.

This is brilliant. Transphobes took a court finding against them to Federal Court, and not only lost the case, but got a stronger conviction against themselves and now have to pay double the original amount in damages 😂 I love that Aussie court cases continue to be good trans news.

It’s excellent to see the Full Federal Court of Australia treat the exclusion of a trans woman as direct discrimination.

Had to delete my celebration post I got the numbers wrong about how much horrible transphobe Sall Grover had to pay. The appellate court doubled what Sall Grover to pay Roxanne Tickle from $10k to $20k and upgraded the decision to DIRECT DISCRIMINATION from indirect discrimination. Sucks to suck!

It's really heartening to read a judgement from our Federal Court that recognises that trans women are women and that a women-only app that discriminates against a trans woman should be held liable for that descrimination.

Background for those who don’t know the case - A women only dating app excluded a trans woman. She sued and won her case. The app appealed and basically mouthed off about the appeal, lost the appeal and now has to pay additional damages due to said mouthing off.

Taking money from an organisation that funded the overturn of Roe v Wade in the States. There is no low these TERFs won't sink to. Roxanne Tickle is a hero.

Tldr on the Australian legal news: a while back an Aussie trans woman took a dating app to court for discrimination and won. Backed by international right wing groups the app appealed the ruling. Today the court said lmao no and even doubled the amount the app has to pay the trans woman in damages.

(for context for my overseas homies, Sal Grover is one of Australia's most prominent TERFs, and Roxanne Tickle is a trans woman who's been fighting her in court for several years at this point after she was banned from Grover's women-only app for being trans)

Tickle said when she began her transition in 2017, she had no idea that a small minority of people who had never met her “would invest an incredible amount of their own precious time and effort into ridiculing, degrading, threatening and mocking me to try to make my life as miserable as they could”.
