Katie Archibald, 32, has announced her retirement from professional cycling after a 13-year career. The three-time Olympic medallist won gold for Great Britain in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 and amassed 51 medals across Olympic, world, European and Commonwealth competitions. Archibald said "it's simply time" and will leave the sport to train as a nurse, despite earlier selection for Scotland's 2026 Commonwealth Games team. She retires as one of Britain’s most decorated track cyclists, known for endurance events that helped shape Team GB's success on the velodrome.
