Hantavirus-hit cruise ship MV Hondius arrives in Tenerife
The cruise ship MV Hondius arrived at Granadilla Port in Tenerife on May 10 with more than 140 passengers and crew as a World Health Organization-led international evacuation began. Spanish authorities identified several passengers and crew with severe respiratory illness and linked three deaths to an onboard hantavirus cluster, prompting quarantines, medical screening, and repatriation flights. The cluster was first notified to the World Health Organization on May 2 after multiple countries reported cases tied to the cruise, triggering cross-border public health coordination. Health officials emphasize urgency because hantavirus can cause life-threatening respiratory failure, requiring rapid isolation and coordinated medical evacuation to limit further spread and ensure care.
Update: As hantavirus dominates the headlines, sparking fears of another debilitating pandemic, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has stressed that the risk of sweeping contagion is small.
And do you believe the current CDC?
This isnt a normal well run cdc, this is a cdc run by crackpots & denialists who dont care about any of us.
The WHO says basically the same thing which should be trusted over the CDC and should really be the headline. The current CDC would be incapable of speaking truthfully.
The same CDC that was gutted of staff and expertise. www.npr.org/2025/05/07/n...
Man. Does this sound familiar? I want to hear it from Dr. Fauci.
Wouldn’t it be a good idea for these passengers to quarantine somewhere before they scatter around the world?
That’s what Trump 1.0 said about coronavirus. Do you think you could trust these people?
Like I would listen to a damn thing the U.S. CDC says these days! I go to British sources, including the NHS. www.gov.uk/government/n...
If it hit the US It will be a HOAX like COVID was Per the current pedophile idiot in office
Meanwhile, RFKjr is advocating eating roadkill and taking Ivermectin 🤡
First they said they'd be quarantined safely, now this crap.
And CDC is totally unprepared to help mitigate this horrific virus. CDC is AWOL.
I feel sorry for the passengers on the planes with them. 😷
Luckily it doesn’t spread as easily as COVId. Still it’s not good when even if the CDC is telling the truth about it not being a concern, the fact that most people won’t trust that under this administration is a big problem.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has confirmed it is sending a team to Spain’s Canary Islands, where the hantavirus-stricken cruise ship MV Hondius is expected to arrive on Sunday, (cont.) www.theguardian.com/world/2026/m...?
and US passengers will be evacuated to an airbase in Nebraska. However, experts say the US is unprepared for such a disease threat.
Send Dr. Oz and RFK
Once again we are screwed with the Trump administration during another outbreak while his incompetence in leadership shines. Didn’t we learn from Covid 19 this is the last person to trust especially with Kennedy in charge now?
The Hantavirus cruise ship has begun to disembark its passengers, first in Spain. “All passengers on the MV Hondius are considered high-risk contacts as a precautionary measure.” WHO recommends a 42-day quarantine. IMHO, keep them on that fucking ship for those 42 days. #ProudBlue #Hantavirus
“The last time there was a virus and tRump was in office, it didn’t bode well for any of us”—Tell Williams. I don’t believe I’m overreacting. 8 people were infected, and 3 people died. That’s 37.5% of those infected. Only 1.02% of those who caught COVID died. #ProudBlue #HantavirusCruiseShip
Would only work if no one gets I'll in the next 6 weeks. If someone gets symptoms then 6 weeks start all over again. Isolating the potential patients from each other works faster
