US April jobs report shows 115,000 payroll gain
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that U.S. nonfarm payrolls rose by 115,000 in April and the unemployment rate held at 4.3 percent. The gain exceeded economists' roughly 65,000 median forecast and continues a pattern of slower monthly hiring compared with the strong gains seen in earlier stages of the post-pandemic recovery. Smaller monthly job increases with steady unemployment matter because they ease pressure on the Federal Reserve to tighten policy and influence mortgage rates, investor expectations, and corporate hiring decisions.
Fox Business on the new jobs report: "Definitely good headline numbers, but it looks like the employment level is down about 226,000. In other words, the number of people actually working -- looks like fewer people are participating in the labor market for the month."
So. Definitely NOT GOOD NUMBERS. These people are so full of shit.
Participating???? Hilarious. THERE ARE NO JOBS!
"These good numbers are actually really bad."
Ummm is that not a headline number for a jobs report, the number of people who have jobs? I am just a small town bird lawyer.
Can’t really polish that turd
Participating? Yes. And I have also decided to participate in feeding and housing myself.
Can we trust that their numbers are accurate? Call me crazy but I’m skeptical of any data this admin releases.
When the truth slips out...
The real numbers are much worse.
So for some reason people are accepting these numbers as honest from the most dishonest administration in history?
“Participating in the labor market” translation: lost their jobs.
Fewer people are participating? Did they have a choice?
"Definitely good headline numbers, BUT..." These people don't realize words have actual meanings. Reminds me of putting lipstick on a pig.
Just saying unemployment is up.
The Trump Regime keeps losing jobs
"The numbers are good, except for the part with the numbers." They twist their tongues into knots trying to spin this shit economy.
Note: a significant % of people watch with the volume on mute. The headlines shown on the screen are what people consume. So, the "115k jobs added" (when the actual number is 226k loss) shown by Fox is evidence of why their broadcast licence should be suspended whenever Democrats reform government.
I remember when Obama would post 115,000 jobs and the sentiment was, it's not keeping up with the people entering the workforce. Today, it's amazing numbers because it beat the low expectations.
Never trust the headline numbers without checking with the experts...
Participating in the labor market. 🙄 I wish she wasn't.
Fewer people are participating?!? wtf kind of line is that? You mean there are 226,000 less jobs available for people to participate in the workforce? 🫠
Such a meandering, confused comment to report a simple fact… Job numbers are down. Period. I’d add that neither Biden nor Obama is in office. Further, Republicans control both chambers of Congress. These facts will not deter the GOP shills from shifting blame, however.
I seem to recall people losing their jobs at the Bureau of Labor statistics. There was lots of hand wringing about trusting these stats going forward. Did I dream all that? Anyways, “Definitely good headline numbers…”
That is definitely one way to say unemployment is up and more people are out of work. Not the clearest way, but it's a way.
But the NY Times said the number was solid?
And of course, while he’s giving the Fox morons some sobering numbers, they take him off camera and show the rising stock prices, which don’t benefit most of the population. Certainly not the crowd that watches Fox. And, as always, the stock market is not the economy. The manipulation is incredible.
What happened to America 🇺🇸 first?
Wow that is a surprise... Blaming Biden incoming
I do not believe anything this administration says. The job market is horrible I know because I’ve been looking for work the last six months. I’m on social security and looking for work just so I can live it’s hard. So just think about those who are not collecting unemployment they will not be
funny how they frame it in a way where its the workers fault.
Like working is optional? Ha
They lied about jobs #s before
IDK, could that be from the forced consumption of AI every time we turn around? Or is it the tech CEOs firing thousands of employees while throwing lavish parties?
So this makes no sense? They are deporting they say 1000 up to 1300 people a day where are those jobs? Why is unemployment at 4.8%
A word salad to put a dress on a turd !!
I don’t believe a single data point that comes from this cult.
Millions have been deported or sent to death camps.
MAGA is applauding the April jobs report without mentioning that February was revised down. Again. The initial report said a loss of 92,000 jobs. Feb. was revised down by 41,000 to -133,000 in April. And it was just revised down AGAIN by another 23,000 jobs today. 156k jobs lost in February. 🤦♀️
It's difficult to trust any numbers the government puts out. Even the number of eggs in a dozen.
They lie about the numbers on page one, then revise the numbers on page 12. Every jobs report or financial report they say is good gets revised a month or two later proving it was bad all along.
They will applaud at job losses as long as they're in power They're whiny brats when they're not
All a Facade nothing is true anymore. Our Government is not to be trusted.
Seems like the report was just meant as a market manipulation, again.
The revisions are the root system — ignore them and you're just admiring the leaves without knowing if the plant is healthy
Job losses only affect them if they lose their jobs. They only care when things this administration does personally affects them. Even though all this shit eventually will affect them in all aspects of their lives
Why would anyone BELIEVE the NUMBERS coming out of this White House about ANYTHING? Seriously. They lie like most of us BREATHE. 🙄😜🤦♀️
Breaking News: The U.S. added 115,000 jobs in April and the unemployment rate stayed at 4.3%, a solid reading for the labor market.
At some point it becomes journalistic malpractice to report these numbers without acknowledging that almost every jobs report in recent history has been revised down substantially.
Uh huh. I heard gas prices are coming down too.
Until it is revised in two months, sure.
I don't believe this at all. Look at the purchasing and debt data.
More jobs that don’t pay enough to live.
That new chief is doing a good job cooking the numbers. www.theguardian.com/business/202...
Howard Lutnick is in charge of the agency that reports these numbers.
Funny how I don't trust any numbers coming out of this administration. None.
I think just the layoffs in the tech and game dev sectors have something to say about that
