Pulitzer Prizes 2026 announced, AP wins for global surveillance probe
The 2026 Pulitzer Prizes named the Associated Press the winner of the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting for a global investigation into expanding government surveillance, including growth in China and the role of U.S. tech firms. Staff of Reuters, including Ned Parker, Linda So, Peter Eisler and Mike Spector, won the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting for documenting how the president used the U.S. government and allied supporters to expand executive power and exact vengeance on opponents. Palestinian photographer Saher Alghorra won the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography for his coverage of the Gaza conflict. The awards highlight scrutiny of surveillance technologies, executive overreach and frontline war reporting, shaping policy debates and public accountability.
Thank you, Julie K. Brown for always speaking truth to power. Congratulations on your Pulitzer Prize. The entire world applauds your courage.
Thank you, Ms. Brown for caring about the victims of Epstein and his powerful pedophile friends. If only the Republican Party would follow your example. Congratulations on a well-deserved honor.
Julie K. Brown is an American treasure.
👏👏 WELL deserved. Congratulations! At least the Herald is trying to keep democracy from dying in darkness now.
We deeply appreciate you and your work, an exemplary beacon of light helping us keep justice and democracy from dying in darkness 🙏 @jkbjournalist.bsky.social 💙
CONGRATULATIONS, JULIE K. BROWN! WELL DESERVED!!!!! 💙❤️ This will really piss trump off!
An unsung hero. Still doing great work. Thank you Ms. Brown.
The best reporter in America. 🥳Congratulations! @jkbjournalist.bsky.social
Guess what? She's systematically going through the #EpsteinFiles as we speak. She will be releasing her analysis and reporting soon!
Thank you Julie K. Brown.
And here we are in an #Amerikkka that 8+ years later has fully failed to deal with these useless #pedophile pendejos and, instead, placed them in #government offices (executive, judicial and legislative) #FuckTrump #FuckTheGOP #FuckSCOTUS
Congrats and enjoy your moment. Hope I live long enough to see the pedophiles brought to justice.
If only the reporting would result in prosecution.
The world owes her. She’s a legend
She should gift it to Trump in exchange for the full, unredacted (except for victims' names) Epstein files.
obvious vs oblivious: a special citation is not enough. julie k. brown deserves a statue. an arch. a ballroom.
Congratulations Julie ~ well done !!
Thank you, Julie! Keep up the wonderful work!
Bondi and Acosta, two of the main actors in shielding Epstein, were both part of this horrendous administration—nay, regime. Scum attracts scum.
Agree! Well deserved, and overdue, but glad she finally received the respect she deserves.
Trump is going to sue again, isn't he?
Would help if you tagged her. Well done, @jkbjournalist.bsky.social 🏆
I'd like to see Alisa Valdes (Rodriguez) with The Pugilist get one for solid indy journalism too around the cancer that is #TheEpsteinClass
And honor so well deserved.
Michael Tracey is so mad right now.
As wonderful as this is, I can’t help but be a little anal about how they say “young women.” The victims weren’t women, they were children.
Wonderful! Congratulations! I fervently hope there are more strong, courageous people like you to bring and keep truth in the light.
she's here on bSky! 😃 @jkbjournalist.bsky.social
Dersh lobbied the Pulitzer Prize committee in 2019, urging them not to consider her "fake news."
Can you share some courage with the rest of the press?
Congratulations, Julie! Thank you for breaking through the stonewalling.
Highlights the immense importance of journalists that do hard and dangerous work to uncover the truth and expose powerful criminals.
I wish that piece said ‘girls’ and not ‘young women’.
When are the Britt’s, France, Italy, or another European nation going to release the full Trump-Epstein files? Maybe Iran?
And when will they finally be released? 2028?
Takes so much courage to stand up. 👏👏👏💥
DJT is likely to be enraged by her Pulitzer Prize but can't sue unless all the Epstein files are released. Ha, ha.
that's a big deal, but let's not forget the Miami Herald's investigative team that worked on that story too
Trump must be shitting bricks, good thing he wears diapers!
Good for her! She has been on this story and very informative in her reporting.
The whole world thanks your commitment
Wubba wubba! Everybody run, the homecoming queen has a gun!
They asked if I wanted to spend early mornings, late nights, weekends, & at least one vacation going through tens of thousands of pages of court records. It sounded like heaven Honored to have been awarded today a Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting w/ NYTimes colleagues
Awarded to the staff of The New York Times for deeply reported stories that exposed how President Trump has shattered constraints on conflicts of interest and exploited the moneymaking opportunities that come with power, enriching his family and allies.
Congrats, Seamus! Well-deserved. You have done excellent work for years!
Congratulations. The worst part of canceling my subscription is not being able to support good journalist. But, on balance, not coming back.
I didn’t have on my glasses and thought this was a still from Mad Men. Also, congratulations!
Congratulations. Well deserved. Shame the NYT continues tacit support for the corrupt regime, but hey ho, credit where magnificent credit is due.
Hard earned, but glad the best in the biz was honored for being the best in the biz!
Congrats and thank you all for what you do. It is critical to our democracy
Congratulations! The NYT is still “The Gray Lady”, a proud and respectful nickname.
Congratulations! Pulitzer really did their homework this year and picked some great reporters.
In a lot of fairy tales from medieval times in Europe, a magical character will complete an impossibly difficult and repetitive task in a short amount of time and save the heroine’s life and happiness as a result. That character doesn’t usually get rewarded but I’m glad you did.
Sadly the NY Times has become a softy paper that soothes instead of hammers the administration's evil doings.
Congratulations! Continue the great work! America is counting on you!
I want to do this too! I have a near eidetic memory. A career history of solving problems semantically. And GREAT interest in exposing this mofo's CRIMES.
Bravo! And if you need an assistant, I need a job!!
Okay. I need to start subscribing. It is the only legit news outlet in America.
Palestinian photographer Saher Alghorra was awarded the 2026 Pulitzer Prize in breaking news photography for documenting Israel’s genocide in Gaza. His photos are worth seeing, so here’s a gift link:
He posts a lot of his photos and videos on Instagram @ saher_alghorra
The photo of a family having dinner in the shattered remains of their home is fucking incredible.
Tip: Right-click on the photos and open image in new tab to see them in high resolution.
I cannot believe I'm saying this, but I am a Pulitzer Prize winner.
Tons of talented people worked on this project, including @sophiechou.bsky.social @harucoryne.bsky.social, Dave Altimari, @shahrzadrasekh.bsky.social and editing from Michael Grabell and Elizabeth Hamilton. Holy cow 🫶
Congratulations! At work, we had literally just had a run-in with these practices when these pieces started coming out, and it felt cool (in a way) to immediately identify with the issues in a piece of investigative journalism and watch things change.
hey interesting there's a local tow company page i like to read the google reviews of sometime because the owner likes to be unhinged to anyone that gives him a low rating for towing their cars and making it impossible to get them back i'll have to read this
The Pulitzer Prizes are here. Amid the great work of many, two winners stand out for me. Julie Brown, the Miami Herald reporter who kept alive the Epstein story, and M. Gessen of The New York Times for reported essays on authoritarian regimes. Here's the rest: www.pulitzer.org/prize-winner...
Kudos! So well deserved, amazing women journalists! 👏
Cool. Let’s hope they discover this. bsky.app/profile/patr...
Great work by Julie K. Brown, and a well deserved award. I’m sensing some themes among the winners. Trump ought to read thoughtfully and then throw some ketchup on the wall. He will never be worthy of a Pulitzer or a Nobel.
Lots of great work by legacy journalism operations. Maybe our free media ain’t gave up the ghost just yet.
1/ I’m honored to share that I’m officially a Pulitzer Prize winner 🥹 Our series on Connecticut’s unscrupulous towing laws, in partnership with @ctmirror.org, won the 2026 Pulitzer Prize in Local Reporting.
2/ We examined how the state’s unique towing laws enabled predatory practices. I helped build + analyze a dataset of 6,000+ forms submitted by the state’s towing companies, revealing how vehicles were systematically undervalued and quickly resold.
Congrats!! Truly infuriating and jaw-dropping work. Let me know if I can help with the job search in any way.
The New York Times won three Pulitzer Prizes, for investigative reporting, opinion writing and breaking news photography. The Athletic, the sports site owned by The New York Times Company, won for audio. The Washington Post won the prestigious public service prize. www.nytimes.com/2026/05/04/b...
Learn more about our staff’s reporting that revealed the conflicts of interest and self-enrichment running rampant through the Trump administration.
I wonder how that stacks up to cancelled subscriptions (including mine). NYT reporting (or lack thereof) on Trump, Israel and the Middle East cannot be trusted.
And ProPublica ? How’d they do ?
