Obama Presidential Center opening announced for June 19
President Barack Obama and Mark Hamill announced the Obama Presidential Center will open June 19, 2026, in Chicago in a playful Star Wars Day video from the Obama Foundation. The center will charge roughly $30 for adult general admission, about $23 for children ages 3, 11, provide free admission for children under 2, and offer free Tuesdays for Illinois residents with valid ID. Obama said, "This isn't a monument to my legacy. It's a gateway to yours," framing the center as a civic and educational resource. The announcement gives visitors concrete dates and prices to plan visits and signals when the center's museum exhibits and public programs will become accessible.
