Magic: The Gathering 'Reality Fracture' previewed at MagicCon Vegas
At MagicCon Vegas organizers previewed Magic: The Gathering's upcoming expansion Reality Fracture, unveiling new character variants and a full product lineup. The panel confirmed each Reality Fracture booster will contain both versions of a character, so booster packs can include paired variant cards. The preview showed examples such as Chandra, Chill of Compliance, presenting a dual version planeswalker tied to the set's Echoverse theme. Wizards of the Coast also outlined the set's product slate, including multiple booster types and collector-tier offerings, which will shift collecting and draft dynamics.
Reality Fracture is literally what if Jace wrote the universe as shitty fanfiction. At least it makes sense from a 'why it makes no sense' standpoint. Jace is a moron.
He fucking wrote his bullies into the multiverse! He legit Chrischan-Mary Lee Walsh-Jerkcops his story!!!! LOOT IS SONICHU CONFIRMED.
He was gonna call it the Omegaverse...
Someone should have killed him when they had the chance when he was phyrexian😩😭
incredibly fucked up that it's Jace's perfect world and he changed Vraska
I was kind of excited for another Time Sprial-like experience. My expectations have been blunted a bit.
He’s just like me fr
Jace needs to just get an ao3 account to write crackfics and this all could have been avoided
the curse of trying to write a very clever boy is that you often end up with a complete dumbass everybody hates instead
This is what I was afraid would happen when we started getting hints about what the set would be. I am very unimpressed. At least The Hobbit set looks good.
Reality Fracture. The last several years of Magic have been building to this moment, and today we peel back the curtain on what awaits you in the Echoverse. #MTGFracture
What is the Echoverse? It's an alternate reality that the greatest mind mage in Magic created in an attempt to improve the Multiverse. All the suffering brought by the Phyrexians, Eldrazi, Bolas? Gone. All thanks to the Theorist. #MTGFracture
It’s going to be the Jace-less League
I kind of want to write some reality fracture fic. What is Ashiok like, I wonder? So helpful, I assume!
Echo Ashiok has an overwhelming amount of gender
Only has the top of their head.
now i'm thinking about a Ria Ivor who didn't get compleated and led the mirran resistance to victory she keeps elesh norn's head as a trophy
I may have done a LOT of unofficial fake worldbuilding over the course of creative text work. Fun stuff, I recommend it.
Fracture Ashiok be like: “I use every set of pronouns.”
Lots of colors and a sense of feather-like dream, when you just want to stay asleep in blissful slumber
broke: thalia is a vampire woke: thalia is a protestant
Every Gender All At Once
I hope this set gets so many people writing speculative fanfiction :3
Okay, gags aside, the more I sit with the info on Reality Fracture from the Vegas preview panel, the more excited I am for this set's story. This set has the potential to go to some very compelling places thematically and narratively A (hopefully brief) 🧵:
Setting the story in and around an "idealized" what-if version of Magic's Multiverse from Jace's (very warped) perspective is pretty fun unto itself. The reimagined Lorwyn Five seem novel enough at a glance, and Hexhaven is a very goofy idea that only works in this framework, imo
i love how the hexhaven school names are super "evil twin brother" levels of camp
very well said thank you for your words 💜
Since people are asking this...is Reality Fracture a new planar chaos....the short answer....
Like...yes we going to see color shift designs of popular characters/creatures/ext...but...it's less pie breaking and more seeing how a design would be if that color shift without breaking the color pie.
My disappointment is that it was so hyped up by being so secretive, and the only “Timespiral Block” elements in it are enemy-colored versions that aren’t even color-pie breaks. Where are the interesting, never-before-seen mechanics? Weird-as-fuck cards? Is the gimmick just color-updating?
