Ted, canine star of Gone Fishing, dies
Ted, the Patterdale Terrier mix who starred on Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, has died at age 13, his official account announced with the message "Sad news about our little Ted 2013-2026." Ted first appeared on the show in Series 3 in 2020 and became a recurring on-screen companion and presence at related events. Co-stars Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse paid tribute, and the show's team said existing footage will keep Ted in one episode of Series 9 later this year. His warm, comic presence helped define the program's relaxed tone, making his loss notable to viewers who valued the show's gentle style.
On this sad day, it feels appropriate to revisit one of the times Ted came in to the edit, to make sure I was using all his best shots. He WILL appear in one episode of #GoneFishing series 9 later this year. RIP little fella.
Rest in peace, Ted. You were a good lad. I hope you finally find your briefcase.
I'm incredibly sad to learn that Ted has passed. My daughter loves to watch Gone Fishing with me and Ted is her favourite thing about the show He was an absolute legend
I hope he will be buried with his briefcase. And away…….
Oh no! That is sad news, we'll all miss him.
Ted will be missed, he was a great addition to the show.
Ach, that is sad news. The wee fella was a part of the programme.
Sat in a public place trying to cry less obviously about Ted
If it helps, here is a photo of a rakish rottweiler I met last night
Anyway Millard, here's Viko to cheer you up, pulling a very 'thanks for the biscuit... But any chance of another, eh?' face. And he did, the doe eyed little sod.
If anybody asks you just say 'I've just seen they're rebooting The Upper Hand.' Ted was ace, a dog who literally looked like he use a pipe and drink mild, lovely wee fella.
