Iran offers deal to U.S. to end war and reopen Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi handed Pakistani mediators a proposal offering the United States a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the war. The plan calls for a long-term ceasefire or final cessation of hostilities while postponing nuclear negotiations, and President Trump has convened national security and foreign policy teams to review the proposal. Oil prices rose after a previous attempt to restart talks failed, and if accepted the deal would reopen a key shipping route and lower the risk of wider regional escalation.
