Reform UK challenges Labour in May local battlegrounds

politicsApr 25, 202613429

Reform UK is mounting a direct challenge to Labour in the May local elections, targeting red-wall towns including Barnsley, Sunderland and Wakefield where voters have expressed frustration with the party. The party has recruited high-profile and controversial candidates, such as actor Topo Wresniwiro, WHO played Master Hamir in the Doctor Strange films and is standing in Greenwich, and Mike Collier, WHO lost an employment tribunal after sacking a care worker WHO raised safety concerns including theft, illegal drug use and poor hygiene. A strong showing in these council contests would chip away at Labour’s hold on former industrial seats and reshape local service politics ahead of national battles, making the May results a key test of Reform UK’s electoral appeal.
