Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders approved the company's sale to Skydance-owned Paramount in an $81 billion takeover vote. The shareholder OK removes an internal barrier but does not finalize the deal because federal antitrust authorities, international regulators, and state attorneys general must still sign off or could block the merger. Senator Elizabeth Warren and a coalition of state attorneys general are preparing legal challenges, and Hollywood figures including Robert De Niro, Sofia Coppola, and Holly Hunter signed an open letter opposing the merger. If regulators demand concessions or litigation succeeds, the transaction could face delays, forced divestitures, or be abandoned before closing.
