Katie Taylor retires as three-time undisputed champion after win over Flora Pili

Katie Taylor outclassed Flora Pili by unanimous decision at Croke Park, winning by scores of 100-90, 100-90 and 98-91 in front of about 80,000 fans and confirming her retirement. The 40-year-old added the vacant WBC belt to her WBA, WBO and IBF light-welterweight titles to finish as a three-time undisputed world champion. Taylor finished with a professional record of 26 wins and one defeat after a career that included Olympic gold, two-weight world championships and a pioneering role in women's professional boxing. Pili, 29, entered the bout unbeaten in 12 and a former European champion but was outmatched as Taylor used the footwork, speed and pressure that defined her career. Promoter Eddie Hearn called Taylor "Ireland's greatest sportsperson" as she took a final lap of the ring, ceremonially placed her gloves and belts in the centre of the canvas and received a stadium farewell with Westlife performing and tens of thousands joining in. The event ranked among the largest post-war boxing attendances worldwide and served as Taylor's confirmed send-off from the sport.
