Street Fighter movie drops second trailer, sets October 16 release
you:haha the street fighter movie looks like a lot of dumb fun i cant believe how accurate the moves are me: it's a disaster. the yaoi is all wrong. we are not the same
ken: i spend years living in ryu's shadow me: he wouldnt say that. he wouldnt fucking SAY that. yes i'm ok keep driving
I would watch and have watched Andrew Koji in absolutely anything
Judging the quality of the movie solely by how closely it adheres to my bro's empirical power scaling chart from 3 years ago
at least you get it
it's good they're doing the mostly game accurate thing for the Street Fighter movie because the people who've been complaining about that sort of thing since the '90s can finally see once and for all if that was a good idea or not. it probably wasn't, but they should get to see the theory tested.
Clearly a movie based solely on a paragraph of text in a manual is destined to elevate the form.
it seems to work for the length of a trailer, I will not be reflecting on whether it holds true for the feature
It being directed by the guy behind the Eric Andre Show is the only thing giving me hope
As a tokusatsu fan, approaching it with that mindset has made me really interested in how it turns out. I have loved the Netflix One Piece so far for this exact mindset, too
Here’s the thing: with a video game movie you CANNOT BE ASHAMED OF THE SOURCE MATERIAL. This is why Mortal Kombat II (2026) works over Mortal Kombat I (2021). I don’t think this movie will be a cinematic masterpiece but it seems to be shaping up to be a fun STREET FIGHTER movie
It just sucks that the cast is rife with terrible dickheads who I don't wanna look at
I agree but there's one exception, as I feel like we wouldn't have the best video game movie of all time if there wasn't *some* shame over the source material. I am of course talking about Super Mario Bros. (1993) which I saw in theaters; I unironically appreciate how crazy they got with it.
This trailer is a significant improvement over everything else they’ve shown! They might have been able to put together a decent popcorn flick here. And even though I was very disappointed with Chun-li not getting a game accurate costume, she looks like the coolest character in the movie!
i am so fucking down for this oh lord
this feels like a fake movie they'd show inside of a Ready Player One movie
Every shot of Guile screams "when your custom character appears in the cutscene" lol Surprisingly the coolest part was Honda's hundred hand slap. The only Iconic Move that didn't look like they were trying to reproduce the sprite on screen, for the better
This one definitely feels like the best trailer so far. Guile with the comic relief, Akuma looks brutal, Zangief, somehow, larger than his in game height and showing it off, Honda looks sick, and the tatsumakis are crisp af. I think I even spotted a spinning bird kick and it didn't look out of place
This looks like exactly the kind of stupid trash I would love, but I have serious doubts about David Dastmalchian as Bison. It seems like he was cast mostly for his physical resemblance to Raul Julia, and you really don't want people making that comparison.
I look forward to pirating this when it drops on VOD 3 weeks after it bombs at the box office
This somehow looks like overproduced dog shit and bargain DVD bin dogshit at the same exact time. That live action Tekken movie from the late 2000s looks better than this. But if you wanna give your money to the Saudis and support Andrew Schulz because of nostalgia then go see it I guess.
I hate that this looks so great (in the sense of being stupid and fun) because it has Andrew Schultz & I do not want to give anything he’s been in any money
this has ignited all my senses
See, I knew this was going to be a good ride. At first I was sad that it looked like "3.5 good guys and the rest are baddies" but seeing Dhalsim in a car with Guile kinda sealed the deal here.
I'm in, I was in with 50's skullcap, I'm even more in with a lore-accurate Dan
HELL YEAH E. HONDA 🙌🏻
making everyone mad by telling them i'm excited for this period piece set in the 90s
I might just be an idiot, but that street fighter movie looks fun????????????????? campy, self aware, kinda fun, good homages to the games??? Stop me before I buy tickets.
It looks SO dumb I'm in
I was excited until Andrew Schulz stupid face popped up. That dude sucks.
I'm all in on this silliness.
Looks HELLA fun. Particularly as a wrestling fan (Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns).
