Eddie Howe steps down as Newcastle United head coach

Eddie Howe has informed Newcastle United that he is stepping down as head coach and the club has accepted his decision. He said after nearly five years of “giving my life, heart and soul into the club” he needs to step away to recharge following a period of personal reflection. Also leaving the club are coaches Jason Tindall, Graeme Jones, Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone, and head of performance Dan Hodges. Howe highlighted on-field milestones including surviving a relegation battle, Champions League nights at St. James’ Park and winning the club’s first domestic trophy in 70 years. He thanked ownership figures Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Jamie Reuben, Jacobo Solís, PIF, David Hopkinson and Ross Wilson and said he remains positive about Newcastle’s future alongside the club leadership. Howe described Newcastle and its supporters as a lifelong privilege and wished the club every success as it prepares to appoint his successor.
