Mets acquire prospects Bruin Agbayani and Billy Amick for A.J. Minter

The New York Mets received infield prospects Bruin Agbayani and Billy Amick from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for left-handed reliever A.J. Minter. Agbayani, the son of former Met Benny Agbayani, has missed much of the season with a rotator cuff injury after making strong in-zone contact at Single-A in his first full season, and was a sixth-round pick in 2025. Billy Amick is playing at Double-A, was a second-round pick in 2024, and scouts cite power with defensive or contact questions. MLB Pipeline listed Amick as the Twins' 21st-ranked prospect and Agbayani as the 29th; some Mets evaluators projected Agbayani nearer the club's top 30 while Amick likely would not. ESPN and other outlets reported the swap as part of New York beginning a deadline selloff while Minnesota addresses its bullpen need by adding Minter. The trade gives the Mets two young infielders with upside and gives the Twins an established southpaw reliever for their postseason push.
