A Portland Tribune profile published July 24, 2019, reported that siblings Malena-Webber and Aubrey Turner, known as The Doubleclicks, released a new album, The Book Was Better, and planned a Europe tour funded by a successful Kickstarter that raised $56,053. The album includes a tribute to gender identity called "I’m Winning," and Malena-Webber, who transitioned to a nonbinary identity last year and uses they/them pronouns, worked with nonbinary and transgender animators on the video. The Book Was Better was the duo’s fourth album to debut on the Billboard Comedy chart, peaking at No. 1, and the act has run five Kickstarter campaigns and raised more than $100,000 on Patreon for music videos. The Doubleclicks were hosting the first Nerd Music Fest at Dante’s on Saturday, July 27, featuring three other nerd bands and a deejay, and planned European stops in Dublin, Leeds, London, Frankfurt and Munich with hopes to add Amsterdam, Berlin and Vienna. Malena-Webber wrote Crowdfunding for Musicians, due this fall from Berklee Press/Hal Leonard Publishing, and also serves as a crowdfunding coach after running 15 campaigns beyond the band’s projects. The profile emphasized that the duo aims to create inclusive, safe spaces at shows where identity, anxiety and vulnerability can be openly addressed.
