Daniel Siad, 69, a modelling scout whose name appears thousands of times in the Jeffrey Epstein files, was found dead on Monday at his home in Colombes, a north-west suburb of Paris, the Nanterre prosecutor's office told the BBC. Authorities opened an investigation and said a post-mortem examination would be carried out to determine the cause of death. Siad had been the subject of several complaints in France, including allegations of rape first filed in February, though his lawyer Ménya Arab-Tigrine said he had "never been prosecuted" and insisted "He is dead and he was innocent." Victims and their lawyers said Siad denied wrongdoing in recent interviews while alleged victims said he had introduced them to Epstein and described him as "essentially a professional trafficker." One woman who gave a deposition in June warned that any information Siad might have had about Epstein is now lost because he was never questioned. Lawyers for complainants said they were "stunned" and accused the Paris public prosecutor's office of slow action that deprived victims of the chance to see Siad questioned or taken into custody.
