generalJul 12, 20262111

The National Weather Service and the Storm Prediction Center issued multiple severe thunderstorm watches and warnings across U.S. regions on July 11, 12, 2026, with radar indicating gusts as high as 70 mph. SPC issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch 483 and Watch 484 with the highest gust probabilities listed between 55 and 75 mph and isolated hail up to 1.00 inch. NWS offices issued local warnings for central Pima County, Arizona; Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, where a warning noted a tornado possible plus radar-indicated 60 mph winds and hail under 0.75 inch; and other counties in Arkansas and Oklahoma, with specific warnings running through late evening hours such as a Tucson warning until 9:15 PM MST and a Paducah warning until 9:45 PM CDT. Several warnings were later expired or canceled, including a TWC-noted expiration for Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, Pima and Santa Cruz counties in Arizona and an OUN cancellation for numerous Oklahoma counties. The SPC also issued Mesoscale Discussion 1596 to outline evolving severe wind threats in northeast Oklahoma as the watches were adjusted. Forecasters flagged a stalled frontal progression and mid to upper 90s heat that increased instability and fueled additional afternoon and evening severe thunderstorm potential.
