Offices close for Independence Day observance across the U.S.

Local governments, nonprofits and private companies across the United States announced holiday closures and limited services for the Fourth of July weekend, with many offices closed Friday, July 3 and reopening Monday, July 6. The New Mexico Department of Justice posted that its office is closed Friday, July 3 and will reopen Monday, July 6 at 8:00 a.m. Several municipal offices named specific closures: the Lake County Clerk’s Office and the Arlington County Commissioner of Revenue will be closed Friday, July 3 and resume normal hours Monday, July 6. Libraries follow varied schedules: all Somerville branches and most city libraries are closed Saturday, July 4 while the Somerville East Branch will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to provide cooling space. Some community centers and resilience centers announced extended closures from Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5 and reopening Monday, July 6 with limited weekday hours. National-service impacts include the stock market and the postal service closing for the federal holiday while commercial banks may operate with adjusted hours, and organizations such as Legal Aid and water utilities advised clients that routine services and consultations will be unavailable until the next business day.
