Stacey King, Bulls broadcaster and three‑time NBA champion, dies at 59
Stacey King, the former Chicago Bulls center WHO won NBA championships with the team in 1991, 1992, and 1993, died at age 59, the Bulls announced. After his playing career, King became a longtime Bulls television broadcaster and game analyst, known for his exuberant "pop-offs" and colorful commentary. The Bulls announced his passing Sunday and have not released a cause of death. King’s combination of championship pedigree and distinctive broadcast voice made him a fixture of Chicago basketball and a bridge between the 1990s dynasty and today.
RIP to an absolute legend, Stacey King. I hope Stacey is remembered as a man of the people. He would stay for 45 minutes to an hour after games every night for 20 years in order to take pictures and meet Bulls fans.
He LOVED the fans. Always did. Hope he and Johnny are having a nice reunion up there.
Got this pic with him before Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Heat. He was the best. Super cool in person and made the games so much fun to watch. He will be missed.
This just sucks. Loved his famous call, "gimme some hot sauce" when a player was going off. Just a tragic loss. Gonna miss his calls.
WHAT?? He was just tweeting about the Finals. This is so sudden
He'd do the same when he came to OU for legends/alumni events.
The NBA family mourns the passing of Stacey King, a three-time NBA champion and longtime Chicago Bulls television analyst. Stacey made his mark on the game as a player, coach and commentator.
For more than 20 years on Bulls broadcasts, his passion, knowledge and unmistakable energy resonated with generations of fans. We extend our deepest condolences to Stacey’s family and friends and the Bulls organization.
This is horrible news. Good player, even better broadcaster. King brought the excitement of a fan to Bulls broadcasts. He's gone way too young.
Holy shit, Stacey King died??? Loved that dude, gonna miss him. Thoughts to @adamamin.bsky.social as well
Bulls games will never be the same. This sucks
Man, even as the Bulls have sucked out loud Stacey King and Adam Amin have been bright spots worthy of tuning in. Condolences to Stacey’s family and friends.
Pour out some hot sauce in his honor
Oh no. Stacey King was the reason I tuned into the games. A legend.
got a big jolt out of that IG post today, fuck
Stacey King has died. 😞 Just 59 - far too young. An great player and analyst who loved the game, this city, and the Bulls so much. Always so friendly and outgoing, with an incredible energy and enthusiasm for life. He'll be so missed.
Oh that's terrible, I knew he had been working as a broadcaster for years. I remember him coming to comfort Jerry Krause widow a couple years back when she got booed at a game, I thought that showed what a decent person he was
This sucks, he was one of my favorites as a kid, I loved following his final four run at OU
