The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act, the series finale from creator Gooseworx and studio Glitch Productions, opened in theaters this week as a limited theatrical event. The film earned a $22 million domestic opening weekend. Early viewers called the finale emotionally wrenching and in places darker than expected, while other viewers praised it as a satisfying conclusion and said the show "stuck the landing." The theatrical rollout proves an indie web-originated animated series can translate into a commercially viable, emotionally resonant cinema event and could encourage more web-to-theater adaptations.
