Ubisoft announced Rayman Legends Retold, a rebuilt version of Rayman Legends running on the Snowdrop engine that launches on October 1, 2026. The remake replaces the original's hand-painted 2D art with new 2.5D visuals, adds extra stages and a new world, and will arrive on additional platforms. The visual and structural overhaul changes the game's tone and sets a new precedent for how Ubisoft might remake classic platformers.

I bought a Wii U during Launch just to play Rayman Legends when that came out.... I also bought a 3DS during Launch to play Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version when that came out.... You can see a pattern here during the early 2010s for me.

I think in isolation or still images it looks great, but In motion it just becomes noise. It’s been awhile since I played legends but I don’t recall the old style having this issue.

Hrm, not feeling that Rayman Legends remake. The original still has some of the best 2D art in games. So many expressive stretch and smear frames! No part of it has aged significantly. Replacing it all with slightly-too-glossy 3D models is a truly baffling decision.
